Wanna bet that this line is how we get reissues of the Runabout mould, but it's painted blue and yellow to be the grunts from Devastation?

Jeez. Look at that one next to the old one. They're almost the same height. Voyager my arse.

No thank you. But I do agree Figure Shrinkage is a major issue in our hobby.

I keep misreading this thread title as 'Studio Series Ginger Edition'. I don't know why.

Okay. So I make no secret I think the WfC/FoC designs are the worst TF designs in the franchise, including bayverse. And the og WfC optimus was a pain in the butt of a toy. But even taking both those things into account, I think it's a rather cool little figure in both modes.
So seeing the two together, how did they screw up so badly? Why does the so called "improved" one look so much worse than the 10+ year old deluxe?

GAMEOFUSION! That's what it's called! You're not allowed to say "swapping weapons and parts", you have to give it a dumb name instead! You guys had one job...

Look at this nonsense. This is what happens when you don't use ankle rockers and just shave the feet so they look like they're angled. Backward step, Hasbro! www.facebook.com/802269971468043

I had reason to be passing Smyths earlier. The lure of reduced price Transformers was to much, so I bought the Gamer edition Op to see what these figures are like. Interesting. First surprise was that this one does actually have ankle rockers, so with universal hips too, he poses well. He's a short voyager, more Armada Starscream than Metalhawk and although he has some heft and not too many obvious gaps, his presence doesn't quite have the wallop he should do. Feels reminiscent of CW Op to me. Still, he does have a big axe, much more like a 3P add-on kit than the usual Hasbro weapons, and for this line I like the replacement gun arm. His transformation is quite involved too, some nifty stuff going on with the arms that pull out to reveal detail you only see during the transformation. The vehicle is chunky big too and begging for a trailer. I need to get the old one out now to see how he compares. I like him, he's a decent figure, but I suspect only of interest to people really taken by the game aesthetic. Otherwise, with the amount of stuff out at the mo, money is probably better spent elsewhere.

Right. Studio Series Gamer Bumblebee. In short, don't.
I was really excited about this one but it's just too far on the side of frustrating to transform. The arms go through some tortuous rotations to get them under the bonnet but once they're in they're fine. It's the usual tab everything together to form the vehicle shell that's the problem. Get one in, another pops out. I usually find that's because something's twisted inside, but I spent half an hour trying to get it right and gave up. Almost there, but not close enough.
The robot is less gappy under the arms than photos make it look when transformed properly, and it looks great with Optimus, but it can't escape feeling top heavy and a little hunched. He has the same 5mm peg for a wrist as Optimus and comes with two alternative guns that replace his hand, plus a sword. Like I said about Op, you're only going to like this if you're really into the game aesthetic. It isn't a fun toy at all.

Pregnant bodies are beautiful bodies.
Unfortunately in this case there are other things that sadly overshadow that. That Starscream is... awful. The choice of plastic there and the lack of texture in the sculpt makes it look so flat and cheap that we're almost back in Power of the Primes territory with this sculpt. The real jobbie one the cake though are those washing powder scoops masquerading as the traditional intakes on his shoulders. Very poor effort.
