Very tickled by that Shockwave/Pax set. Shockwave from the Seeker mold is properly bonkers, and even if it's not great, it's mad enough for me to want it. Pax from Hound is... unexpected. And just odd. I've been saying for YEARS that I wanted Pax in his Chaos Theory body, and here they've *kind of* done that. But they've given him the Pax head from the Spotlight Blurr comic, that he had on the T30 toy but never had with this body. So they've tried to give us everything in one, and failed at all of them. But all the same, it's just bonkers enough that I kind of want it...
They did say though on the stream that this was a deliberately smaller Pax, to sell the idea of an upgrade when he becomes Prime, and that a larger version was coming at some point. So maybe they'll do the proper Chaos Theory/Stormbringer body for Pax/Prime, and it'll be from a Voyager and not a Deluxe. I've seen it suggested it could be a retool of SS Gamer Prime, and I can see that working.

I remember how the Wreckers box art raised hopes of a Xaaron figure only for them to be dashed!
That said, just the other day I was thinking a Nova Prime could be really nice but I couldn't think of a good figure to retool. That's a pretty good candidate, and does fit with the surprising Siege mould reuse here. I will hope!

So what's Pax body type 'most people want' that didn't happen here? For me it's the full Chaos Theory/Stormbringer design (because there's not a lot in them), which isn't quite what they've pulled off here with that Hound retool. |

Got Rise of Tyranny yesterday
Superb set.
Ratbat might be Scourge with a new head but it's aping the made of Unobtanium Legends version and looks so nice in hand.
Megatron is amazing. We know how good the Siege mould is, some of us several times - my count is 4: Siege, Selects unreleased G2 deco, WFC Voyager pack, WFC Spoiler pack. He still feels Megatron despite the moulding changes but you feel it's a better Megatron than the Decepicon leader we're used to.
The weapons are great: No fusion cannon here instead there's a drill & mount and a pick axe & handle. The four arts can be used separately or combined together. The drill, mount and handle combine to turn the tank into a drill tank, think CW Drillbit but better.
Good solid set this, very pleased.

That is certainly a choice that was made. Whilst I appreciate the fact that they're giving us niche characters in this line, these two are REALLY niche. And also it's just odd that Hasbro are putting out characters from IDW 2.0 (mainly - yes, Javelin featured a small amount in IDW 1.0, but not as much as 2.0) given that they (relatively) recently stopped IDW 2.0 from being a thing. Very strange.
Of course, the main reason for these characters being chosen is presumably because Kaskade has a very Shadow Striker-like face, so that's a possible mold reuse right there. Although if they're not both retools of Legacy Elita-1 I'll be surprised...
But whilst it's nice that they're giving us these female characters, it's odd that they've picked these two that, as far as I'm aware, no-one is crying out for. Nautica, Velocity, Aileron, Anode, Lug, etc from IDW 1.0 are still in demand. But these two, I've not seen anything. Of course, you could argue that there's no decent molds for any of those that they could reuse, and they don't do new molds in capsule lines. But then I could point you at Velocitron Speedia 500 Cosmos. So... it's strange, for sure.

I know nothing of these two characters, though Javelin's alt mode, the closest thing to it is Velocitron 500 Blurr.
The other one, absolutely no clue.
To be honest? Since they're hitting deep IDW history, I'm kinda surprised it isn't Prowl/Chromedome, with Prowl from gamer Barricade

Anyway, very nice toys, even if you don't care about the versions they represent.
