Can't say the open thigh piece bothers me. I am a bit surprised it isn't at the back though.
Megatron might wind up a bit bigger as it doesn't seem like it will have so much alt mode kibble on its back, that might translate into the extra heads height which is all it needs.

How about the outside of the lower arms?

Yeah those are worse to me, but I like the chrome armour so I can keep those attached.

It's the thigh gap. Everyone's got a problem with Jetfire's thigh gap.
(Yes, I know. Despite having nearly spent four decades on this planet, I only discovered the whole "thigh gap" thing a couple of months ago, and was both amazed and dismayed. But that's a conversation for another time and place...)
Yeah, whatever it is, It would've been better if the... visible gap... had been at the back. Or something. But no matter, it's still a lovely figure. And having seen it pictured next to MP-10... I think it'll be displayed with my Masterpiece scale figures. It's not quite up to the same quality, but it's definitely in-scale as far as the comic is concerned (well, depending on which point in the comics run you read, of course, given Jetfire's inability to maintain his initial, impressive size), so that'll do for me.
And I shall keep wishing that Megatron will be a couple of inches higher, too. Given all the other hopeless things I wish for (you know, like world peace, people stopping killing each other for just a few minutes, and so on) I might as well add that to the list...

Jetfire is the size I wish MP10 was. At least since I've gotten the Autobot cars who he Soundwave, Rodimus and the jets look too big with. (grimlock looks fine as is) So yeah Jetfire would look fine with them, but I think I'll leave G1 Jetfire with my MPs and put Jefire with the classics where he belongs.

I'm really torn with that. Obviously it's an essential purchase, but I'm thinking it will be worth the extra to go the Takara route. He just looks like a Christmas tree decoration.
Side by side though it does show the new one is too white. Needs more paint apps. Some strategically placed repro labels would help.

Side by side though it does show the new one is too white. Needs more paint apps. Some strategically placed repro labels would help. From whats been seen the Takara one will have some more paint apps, but not enough in my opinion. I assume Reprolabels will have a set out soon which should do the trick nicely. As I said in my mini review of Jetfire I'm torn on the chrome, it's a little too much with with it, but the picture on the back of the box shows a chromeless Jetfire and that is a little underwhelming. What I eventually worked out is that I dont like the leg armour because it isn't armour it's a large laser thats only useful for shooting himself in the head. The toy looks better without them or plugged in to the arm armour or the thrusters and has a nice red painted protrusion under the armour that looks far more like the G1 armour. Without them the rest of the chrome's not as overwhelming. The one thing that would make me regret not having the Takara version is if the red paint apps are a darker shade, Hasbro went with a quite bright red that I am not 100% sold on.

I'm also hoping someone will come out with a set of replacement armour closer to the original, not that I dislike most of the new armour, but I've always really liked the original armour.
And that the reprolabel set comes with Jetfire and Skyfire based stickers.

Which is just bizarre. Are Takara trolling Hasbro here..? "What, no, go overboard with chrome? Us? Never. You've got it all wrong..."

Are there equivalent UK brands? I think denatured alcohol is methylated spirits to take the paint off. Not sure about the Super Clean to effect the chrome.

I used rubbing alcohol to remove the paint apps from rts jazz, to turn him G2. The result did what I needed, but wasn't spectacular.
How about a spinoff thread where we can ask and give varying suggestions? 'Cause I have a rotf Nightbeat I wanna turn into Packrat and need suggestions how to get his autobot symbol off.

I am actionmastering the $#! ¥ out of that thundercracker, but I cant believe they have gone from nearly a decade of undersized strike planes to a massively oversized one.
Just do a voyager.

Why start an oversized Decepticon Jet range when they haven't finished doing them, in essentially the same design, in the Legends scale?
Thundercracker has lost Jetfire's boosters but he still has the attachment points for them. The null rays are new too replacing some of Jetfire's weapons.
I presume Thundercracker has lost the swing wing ability?

Aww, come on, Hasbro, that's such a disappointment. Why the hell isn't that Leader Class Acid Storm? Didn't you get the internal memo on Acid Storm? You're doing it wrong!
Sarcasm aside... I have to say, I love it. Seriously. I think that deco might be much better for that mold than Jetfire. And, much as I really wanted the Jetfire, but still don't own it, I'm now tempted to not get it and just get Thundercracker. Because I think that looks great. And also I love him in RiD.
The only down-side is, of course, that he'll never show up in shops over here. So is he worth the inevitable fifty or more? That I am not so certain about...

I actually find myself quite liking the look of the Thundercracker, which surprises me because I felt fairly "meh" about the Jetfire on the basis of the pictures I've seen to be honest. I like that they have given him the cannon pods to go under the wings, and I actually think that the moulds heavy F-22 influence suits Thundercracker far better than it did Jetfire.
(The other bonus is that having the cannon pods means that I wouldn't feel like I was disarming him by leaving off the rather silly "guns strapped to fuel tanks" pods on the legs.). Who knows whether I will be in a position to afford him when he is released, but I'll have to admit that he is one of my favourites of the upcoming toys I think.

I wish they were voyager. Leader is too big for them. It's pretty much as big as a Masterpiece Strike Plane!
