Was Car Robots actually a Beast era show? No. Debateable. However the toylines, which we're dealing with, are definitely of similar vintage and are both within the Japanese BW Generations book. I'd stick Universe 1 & Robotmasters under the same heading too but the book publishers took a different view

The question was about the show and I don't see any debate. The core concepts for Beast Wars and Beast Machines shows made the Beast modes an integral part of the story.
Car Robots has none of that.

I've never heard of CR being described as a Beast era show before.

And yet it is (in Japan). Beast shows before, Beast shows after and it is in Beast Wars Universe.
Phil is right. No madness this time.

In Japan continuity, *every* version of TF's is linked. It's all one story.

There was in Japan: BW Returns in 2004 Not a new show and again all the beast shows make a point of the beast modes and there being a reason for them. car Robots has folks that turn into beasts and that's it. and the fact it is called Car Robots and doesn't have the word Beast in the title when all the other beast shows do should be a big enough effing clue that it's not a beast show.

Do you know, I genuinely thought someone else had done it. Not up to Phil's standards, I thought.
However, henceforth I shall be randomly shouting Baldigus in threads because it quite tickled me.
