Can you tell that I'm ever so slightly out of routine?
Morning All!
It's Monday - 2023 Week 29
Yesterday: Morning got off to a VERY busy start thanks to 3 book orders going up at the same point as the weekly PRH update happened, the first with Epics on it for 2 1/2 months. Church went well after a bad mistake early doors. Couldn't sleep well during afternoon, pain. Quiet evening.
Today: I'm leading 8am and 10am. Karl's off home to Northants having enjoyed the airshow. Liz is off for a respite break. J out this evening.
Pray Day goes OK, Sinuses, CMT, tummy and Head cope OK. Pray I sleep well tonight, getting off to sleep promptly. Pray we stay protected from the virus.
Have a good day, stay safe & well.

Is morning a specific period during a 24 hour cycle, or is morning the first part of someone's day? If I started work at midnight and had to get up at 10.30pm to do that, I'd probably say my morning started at midnight.
However I would concede that afternoon is pretty specifically after noon.

I say "morning" to people when it's the first time I see them. Just a thing I started doing long ago and it seems to have stuck.

If I started work at midnight and had to get up at 10.30pm to do that, I'd probably say my morning started at midnight. That's no defence for Phil, who likes to say 'Morning all' at midnight just before going to bed. Also, if your work day began in the evening and you slept during daylight hours, are you saying you'd call your sleep period night? For me, morning is intrinsically linked to the sun coming up rather than to human activities, and ends with the onset of afternoon, which is, er, noon. Martin

Night and morning are not mutually exclusive like night time and day time are It is if you go with the primary Oxford English Dictionary definitions: "The beginning or early part of the day, esp. from sunrise until noon" / "The early part of the day from the time when people wake up until 12 o'clock in the middle of the day or before lunch." Or for variety, the Cambridge definition: "The part of the day from the time when the sun rises or you wake up until the middle of the day or lunch time." Yes, there are secondary definitions out there where it can optionally be extended backwards to midnight, but they tend to qualify it by saying it applies especially or particularly to the time after sunrise. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning"Morning is the period from sunrise to noon. It is preceded by the twilight period of dawn. There are no exact times for when morning begins (also true of evening and night) because it can vary according to one's lifestyle and the hours of daylight at each time of year. However, morning strictly ends at noon, which is when afternoon starts. Morning can also be defined as starting from midnight to noon." But just because it can be defined in that way doesn't mean it should be defined in that way. Martin
