A very interesting idea. I think, in essence, this is what we all would like, out childhood tots made better! That's what the MP line was for me, with MP Prowl, and MP10, before they got too Sunbow and expensive. Yeah, that's the kind of thing that was more interesting to me, too. What I really want is just the old toys, but more poseable. But as has been said, that'd probably need redoing most of the molds to accomodate the new features, so you might as well just start with a completely new mold. Although it would be really interesting to see what they could do these days just by making changes to the existing molds... |

I'm hoping the current Diaclone line get to the Car Robots and we end up with Masterpiece figures based solely on the original toy designs.

If you're gonna update the original G1 toyline, I'd kinda dig new characters being made in the same style, with the same techniques as G1. A Diaclone style Drift, Windblade, a Victorion gift set (repainting Hotspot, Blades x2, Deadend or Wildrider, Breakdown, and Groove) This is an interesting idea. I'd like to see that. |

I think it would be good for some of the real bricks, like Powermastre Prime as Phil says, but a long time back I saw some really clever customs that did this - gave G1 Prowl knees and thigh swivels etc. It looked cool, but it didn't look *right*.

I just noticed the rocket launchers are mounted on the shoulders and the heads have swivels. That's subtle. So much we assume because of modern toy articulation.

Taking it to the extreme... Imagine a G1 Prime where when you fold out the arms, the windows have a hinge down the middle and they fold back to create the tapered chest of the bot.

Reposting what I said elsewhere, mainly cos I can't believe I didn't say it here at the time! Big green G2 Megatron is a prime candidate. Dump the large solid grey body and legs piece for something like the G2 hero's pieces but up scaled. |
