The Super Mode Starscream definitely looks better than the Normal Mode one. Not really a surprise - both previous Super Mode versions of that Starscream look better than the Base Form, so their is no surprise there. Having seen one in the plastic though, the rather peely-waaly swords do remain a bit of a disappointment. I'd rather they'd thrown money at giving him two detachable outerwings that could become swords - correct the sad lapse in judgement when it came to the original toy and let him dual-wield decent-sized swords. As it is he looks like an adult who is determined he looks impressive waving his Sentai role-play weapons around despite having bought DX versions instead of Memorial Edition ones...

It is a con exclusive in Japan so may have had a limited production budget?
(I have no idea, just wondered).
Phil has made me get one. Lovely colours.

Ah, sorry - I meant on the original Normal Mode Starscream release they should have given him two wing-swords to correct for the fact that the original Armada version only had one - then the Expo Exclusive would have had them as well because it was redecoing that mold. Sorry, that wasn't very clear in my previous post.
It is a lovely redeco isn't it. I was struck on Friday afternoon by how well the colours worked. They do a lot more for the detailing of it than the grey and red of the retail release.

Any buying decisions that Burns made this weekend were all his own. He wasn't here long and he didn't spend much time with my toys

However, I have discovered reading the forum tonight that the devious Burns has persuaded two others to purchase toys with his cunning ways. Therefore I declare he is just as bad as Phil and deserves what he gets!

So I got Toy Optimus the other day, and I absolutely adore this little guy.
He's smaller than I though, but great. He's one of the best deluxes, and has a different vibe to Missing Link. They feel different from one another. This one is much more fiddly, and great to just sit there and mess with over and over. Missing Link is a replica of the original, while generations replicates the original, if that makes sense. Though he can do one thing ML can't... He can replicate the sensation of losing the original's fists!
I await the premium deco release that includes the ER trailer with retooled matching wheels and Roller.

Ah biscuits - I’d not considered that they’d do that. I mean I fully expect a Universe-era “Ultra Magnus” which will just be a white version of the figure (but with no armour), and presumably a Nemesis version, and maybe a “sleep mode” version too. But I’d not considered them doing a full toy colours reissue like that. And you’re right, they absolutely will.

Hasbro's current phase of continual incremental versions of toys means I am much less inclined to get something as soon as it comes out. I find myself now waiting to see what the inevitable 'improved' deco or slightly changed mould that appears not long after will be like!
This doom loop of small iterations Hasbro is currently trapped in has sucked a lot of joy out of the hobby, for me. It's hard to get excited about the new thing when you know a tweaked version will probably follow. I no longer have the time/energy/space in my house for that kind of tomfoolery.
This is saving me cash though. Sorry, Hasblowwww Executives!

Need to find some suitably sized double barrelled shoulder cannons on a 5mm peg so he can do a Powermaster Optimus impersonation.
