So... Taking this at face value and not at all suspicious given the inclusion of Massive Nobody Thundertron, I have thoughts.
• TRA GEN LEGACY UNI LEADER BW TIGERHAWK:
could see this as being a heavy TM2 Megatron retool
• TRA GEN LEGACY UNI LEADER G1 SANDSTORM:
'bout bloody time!
• TRA GEN LEGACY UNI VOYAGER CYBER STARSCREAM:
This probably means Cybertron, but "cyber" is rather vague. Could be Cybertron, could be Cyberverse, could be a "cleaned up" Siege reissue.
This is also kind of a weird one. We've not been at a loss for Starscreams for some time. Why a fourth new mold in almost as many years?
• TRA GEN LEGACY UNI VOYAGER PRIME THUNDERTRON:
This is the one that gets me. Thundertron has nothing meaningful about him. If he's a Leo Prime repaint, there are other more significant lions deserving of this spot, like Leobreaker, Under_3, BW Prowl, or BM Snarl.
• TRA GEN LEGACY UNI VOYAGER ANIMATED OPTIMUS PRIME:
This is another eyebrow raiser. If their goal is G1ifying TFP and TFA, then Optimus would end up just being a normal Optimus. I really don't see a point.
But let's roll with it. I could see this done as Bulkhead's retool.

But we've seen more noteworthy characters/toys than this guy, get updates from molds that look nothing like them. G2 Megatron, CD Hotshot, G1 Ransack, Crasher all spring to mind. Not saying these are good or bad toys in and of themselves, just that the originals were way more popular, but wound up with updates that have as much in common as Thundertron and Lioconvoy. So a straight repaint here seems very plausible with recent history. |

Lots of good stuff in this leak!
Sandstorm is the most immediately exciting, I've enjoyed all the WFC triple changers and feel confident that they'll do a good job here (possibly famous last words, I didn't expect them to manage to make such a mess of Tracks).
Much love for Tigerhawk, though it is one of those cases where the original is so great it's hard for me to imagine that they can surpass it.
Honestly, bring on Thundertron. I think notability is one of the last things I look for, just give me a nice toy of an interesting design / character, and blue and gold pirate lion works for me. I'm a bit suspicious of "notability" - it has the potential to be self-reinforcing, and I think the concept has become a bit skewed in the TF fandom, the more vocal parts of which are super-focused on official fiction, especially the particular strands of official fiction that they collectively approve of. I still remember the endless online whining (especially on the Allspark forums) when MP Sideswipe was announced, "bUt HE's a nOBoDy", even though the original toy is iconic. Bring on the nobodies!

Absolutely down for Sandstorm. He's one of my faves right back to the original toy and it's well past time he had his own update.
Everything else on that list I think is a wait and see. Little bits from lots of old lines mixed together doesn't appeal to me.

Well, we do. And so does his best friend, Spider-Man. But Hasbro doesn't. They can't actually be thinking of giving us the entire line-up of '84 Minibots - that's completely counter to their entire philosophy. Next thing you'll be telling me is that they're thinking of giving us a Windcharger...
Of course, if this list is correct then I'm happy to see Windblade finally make her return. Although "CYB" does maybe be wonder if she's going to be styled after her appearance in the Cyberverse cartoon, and what that'll mean for her both her and Chromia.
Oh, and the potential promise of Rock Lords is interesting. Although I do wonder if they're just codenames for new Junkions.

Although it'll be interesting to see what they actually look like, given that the Legacy line's thing is to G1/Generations-ify the character designs, and that the Cyberverse designs were cartoonified versions of the Evergreen designs - I think they'll probably end up just looking like the Evergreen designs for these characters. Which isn't a problem at all, I'd like to see a Windblade in this style - but it is very ouroborosy. |
