I had an image today in my head of this year's official GI JOE convention:
A large darkened room. A circle of chums. They slowly pass a candle around the circle, their faces ashen as the flame flickers and ultimately...dies.
Darkness descends. As one they cry out: "NO JOE!"
Then there is silence.
Outside, a mint-on-card Snake Eyes action figure bursts into flame, but there is no one there to see it.
Then the sun goes out and the universe ends.

Joecon 2014 starts 20th 10th April 2014. As of today, 17th March, you still can't register for it www.gijoecon.com/tx2014/con14register.cfmDo I even need to point out who's running this event? EDIT: Corrected date. That's worse than I thought!

Five years on from the ROC line and as recently as last month, TRU Edinburger were still selling the figures! Shockingly, they now appear to be finally gone though one sad lonely Mole Pod remains.

It is. A pass on these but if any of the other stuff, in particular the vehicles show up, then I'm interested!

Well if I find anything else, I shall let you know. I was rather surprised to see them sitting on the shelf earlier.

In a bit of a surprise I see that all four figures packs and the Vamp set are now in my Pile of Loot two weeks early.
I suspect this is in response to TRU putting them out early.
Now where's the snow vehicle set?

Rather a shame BBTS is only selling these as a pair, because I'm not really that interested in the Arctic Ambush set (apart from thinking that it would be good to raid for gear for other figures) but I like the Lady Jae in the other set.
Mind you, I am feeling fairly Jae'ded today anyway, seeing as I have picked up a small package from the Post Office this morning at half-eight. Inside it was the original line Lady Jae which I was able to snag from ebay (lovely to see that the prices of old GI JOE/ Action Force stuff haven't skyrocketed to Crazy Talk levels as happened with Transformers stuff). She is currently sitting on her desk, pack on her back wondering whether I have sorted her out a shootin' iron yet. In truth I am somewhat torn - can't decide whether to give her a marksman weapon in line with the first reel of Retaliation's retool of her skill-set, or whether to kit her up for CQC...
(Yes, I know that if you have Jae on the team then Flint is sure to be around somewhere, he is still in the post having been snagged from an auction that finished the following day. Unfortunately he will have a slightly longer wait for a suitable equipment loadout - I don't actually have a shotgun anywhere in my footlocker of Joe weapons for him. He is going to have to make do with a PDW until I can find something more to his liking).
That pretty much fills out my Team Beta - Flint on point, Jae for intel and planning, Helix for infiltration skills, and Flash for when you just need a H.I.S.S out of the way last week.

Superb. OK the instructions don't show where the VAMP's hoses go and the missile box was tough to get together. I've now owned all 4 major variations on this toy (SAS Jeep, 25th Vamp 1, 50th VAMP 2 and AF Stinger)
But never owned the Night Attack Craft which currently has an eel sat in it. Oh yeah :-) this is the business. I want another for Torpedo and Wet Suit now.
The ammo locker is a joy, packed with guns. As always it's the little touches: foot pegs on top :-)
(spare of this set coming: if you're interested PM me)

You know back in the day it used to be all about the figures. Now as I get older it's more the GI Joe vehicles that matter to me.

That's interesting Big Phil, 'cos I've gone the other way. From loving the vehicle as a kid, I'm not almost totally focused on the figures. Although I do love a good base.
