It's not the last chapter. It never was. The story goes on in Heroes Return mini.

If a series has 12 issues and #13 is not in the collected edition then the last chapter is missing!

It's not the last chapter, no matter how much you moan about it, and if you actually read the issues in question you will know why and just how wrong you are.

Phil will back me up on this.
Phil! If you wanted a complete run of a series, would it bother you if the final issue wasn't collected in a 'complete collection' (even if it is rubbish)?

If it's the last issue of the series proper, tying up the storylines, yes. If it's some add on pish that's part of an unreprintable out of continuity intercompany crossover then NO

What are these issues about A question asked even by those of us who have read them If memory serves it was a very late in the day decision that was made to have the 13th issues, hence why they have no bearing on the actual ongoing story of the book.

Read all of THE RETURN Omnibus today. A fair chunk of it was new to me: the Exiles and Thunderbolts issues along with the Onslaught minis.

Do it!
I have the omnibus, I haven't read it yet but it's very pretty to flick through. Besides, I think it's a bit unfairly maligned. Taken in the context of a story that wasn't intended for it exploding into a line-wide crossover I think it's fine, and has some great moments.

I don't know where this would reflect in UK comics stores, but Marvel are doing another Omnibus clearance so there are some bargains to be had here and there. My preferred online retailer for this is cheap-comics.com in the Netherlands: www.cheap-comics.com/info/Already got an order in for two, and I'm sure there will be more Lord help my poor back...

I used some of my Birthday Money to buy an Omnibus, Uncanny X-Men 4 which contains Uncanny X-Men (1981) 176-193, Uncanny X-Men Annual (1970) 8, Kitty Pryde and Wolverine (1984) 1-6, X-Men and Alpha Flight (1985) 1-2, material from Marvel Fanfare (1982) 40
The end of that - Uncanny X-Men (1981) 189-193, Uncanny X-Men Annual (1970) 8, X-Men and Alpha Flight (1985) 1-2 - is in X-Men Epic 12 The Gift.
The bulk of the book - Uncanny X-Men (1981) 177-188 and Kitty Pryde and Wolverine (1984) 1-6 - the equivalent of 19 issues worth as 186 double sized - is likely to be the majority of Epic 11 (176 I was expecting to be in Epic 10). I've got MTU 150 completing the book, YMMV.
X-Men Epic 11 is my most wanted Epic collection. Of those 18 issues I think are definitely in there only 186 has ever been reprinted in colour paperback. How 184-188 - Lifedeath bookended by Rachel meeting the team and revealing who her parents are - has never been collected in colour paperback boggles my mind. Ditto Kitty Pryde and Wolverine. These are some essential building blocks frequently referenced by stories that follow that were collected in the pre Epic age.
But the book is also my era of X-Men. 176, 184 and 192 were the three issues of X-Men my Dad brought me home from work - didn't do as well there as I did with certain other titles. 180 was a pick up from a school fete. 193 onwards I recall reading in the comic shop as I bought Alpha Flight, then Secret Wars II, then X-Factor. Back to 176 was my initial target when I started buying back issue when I came onboard monthly with issue 210.
I may now own these issues in colour for the first time since I sold my X-Men Collection of 120-320ish when poor in the mid 90s but that won't stop me buying them again when Epic 11 hits. Cannot come out soon enough!
