Though as I'm sure Phil is dying to point out, the tech-specs were written for the Sunstreaker toy, which has the rocket backpack and piledriver fists. Martin Don't you start. Phil had been admiringly restrained this time. -Ralph

The most memorable thing about Sideswipe to me is the opening scene in G2. His redesign really helped set the tone for the whole series.
The switched bios make sense. I always thought that he just swung his arms back inside the car doors when he wanted to transform them into piledrivers, but there’s nothing that looks like a rocket pack.
As a child, I wanted this toy because he was an Autobot who could fly. I tried to buy it in 1984 from Argos because that was the cheapest place I knew of to get TFs, only to find out that the catalogue just showed Sideswipe as an example and you actually got a randomly chosen Autobot from the first six.

Absolutely iconic Transformer design, one of my favourites. I remember his image being used on quite a bit of merchandise, for me he was one of the "faces" of the line.
Didn't handle one until the TFC reissues but he didn't disappoint; transformation may be simple but it's effective and the Countach is beautiful. He's prime Missing Link material.

Yeah great toy. Really smooth transformation.
Interesting numbers, an intelligence of 7, the warrior being smarter than the defensive strategist. Firepower of just 3 though always seem a bit low to me.
But Big Phil is TOTALLY ACCURATE about them being muddled up. It's so obvious. And, to be honest, I've never enjoyed either warrior brother quite as much since that realisation. They're the wrong way round.
The numbers also prove it: this toy suits a strength of '5' far better than the other mold which clearly suits a '7' better.

Anyone cracked the pattern to these yet? When I saw it was meant to be a UK distributed car this week following my birthday I made sure it was my favourite :-) SUPERB toy. So... Bumblebee Jazz Soundwave (Buzzsaw) Trailbreaker Cliffjumper Sideswipe Umm... No. It's not the order they appear in the catalogue at any rate.

Is it something to do with patent filing dates, or dating on copyright stampings?

It'll be their order of appearance from some obscure Japanese cartoon or sumthin'.

Love Sideswipe. Always wanted one as a kid but never got one until the reissues - was worth the wait. I dream of owning the yellow diaclone one. Would love a Red Alert too.

My vote is for the order they appear in the Ladybird books. Or maybe the Transformers Universe profiles in the comics.

Another figure where the tech specs are messed up? Sunstreaker? Or one of the jets?
Doesn't bring me any closer to seeing what the actual order is though.

What would the lists look like with those answers in place?
One of them will give your data a pattern, one won't
As a further clue put the answer you DIDN'T put next week for the week after....

Bumblebee Jazz Soundwave (Buzzsaw) Trailbreaker Cliffjumper Sideswipe
so
Starscream/Sunstreaker
I discount Sunstreaker because we've just had three Autobots on the bounce. So Starscream, who had his tech specs switched with Skywarp?
So
Bumblebee Jazz Soundwave (Buzzsaw) Trailbreaker Cliffjumper Sideswipe Starscream Skywarp/Sunstreaker?
I have no idea what any of this means.

Martin may be needed again tomorrow Has to be the Starscream/Skywarp numbers. Can't think of anything else from 1984 where I'm going 'This isn't Phil being mad, it's backed up by the evidence'. Martin
