I've just been reading the retrospective mag that came with DWM 500. It reads like a very light version of Thrill Power Overload; a very enjoyable jaunt through all the covers and some stories associated with them, but it's left me now wanting a definitive history of the magazine.

The DWM cover made me smile too. Great to see the old logos being used.

Yeah, plastic though I love the Countdown extra but am mildly disappointed it isn't printed on newspaper. Probably would have cost more as they'd have to use a different printer.

Yep. Economies for freebies I understand. But shiny Countdown doesn't feel right. It ain't natural!
I would love it if this stirred enough interest for them to do some collections. Maybe they're looking at the interest in Rebellion buying up the IPC stuff and wondering what they could do themselves.

At least ten copies of the Earth Invasions bookazine in Smiths this morning, no sign of the robots one. They did have the Toys and Games special though, so I got that. Looks like a good read.
They aren't half tardy in there though. Not only do they not open until nine, which is a constant bug-bear for me because I like to be in and out of town quickly of a morning and I'm usually hanging around outside Smiths waiting for it to open with everything else done (it's a newsagent! it should be open by eight at the latest!), but only *then* do they start putting out the new magazines. So I couldn't get Avengers today because it was still on a palette out the back.
