I think that will be glossed over.

New DWM feels a little odd with Gallifrey Guardian cut to a page and a half and no letters section. Wonder if the Jodie W interview was a last minute addition.

With the best will in the world, interviews with Whittaker at the moment are quite pointless as she isn't at liberty to say anything beyond "I am Doctor Who."

Yeah, but that isn't going to stop the marketing department seeing pound signs. Besides, if she wasn't interviewed in DWM, they'd look daft next to all the mags that are.
DWM feels decidedly odd to me at the mo. But there is at least a good variety of articles this issue.

Those actually look pretty healthy for a niche publication I think. Seems to be doing better than it's nearest comparable publication anyway so I'd say that those aren't bad figures.

I had to check that Doctor Who Adventures was still being published. It's been ages since I saw it WH Smith; I can only assume it's getting lost among the 'free' gifts that adorn comics nowadays.

19000 + - how does that compare to the IDW comic print runs when they had it & the Titan comics? Also compared to IDW Transformers (we can't get figures for the 3 UK Transformers comics)

It was stealth cancelled a while ago. Ah! That would explain it. I thought it was strange that Clara was still shown on the DWA website.

Question for DWM subscribers: how do you select which issue you want it to start from? I didn't clock this until after I paid up!

I think they just send you the next issue when it's printed. I don't think they send the one currently on sale.

I emailed Panini subs asking them to start with #525 and got a polite reply back that they will. Hooray!

It appears so. Current issue has eight pages and grabbing an issue from last year I see that one had twelve.

They've got to make way for those exciting cosplay articles somehow.

In line with the magazine budget being cut, I imagine. The comic strip will be a high cost item so slashing 4 pages saves a fair bit of cash.
The dressing up articles annoy me.

They do me too. I've been struggling with DWM recently but I can't pin down why. The content of the articles is mostly as was under the previous ed, but somehow the magazine doesn't feel right. It's become more like a fanzine. Lots of articles about fan things like cons, the fanfic style blogs of doom writing, the cosplay stuff, even the return of the TARDIS tin questions. I am a fan and I've done my bit in fandom over the years, but it feels out of place in the official voice of the show.
Even the usual style of article and interview doesn't feel quite right, but I'd put that down to my own prejudices rather than an actual change.

Are the bbc after more money for the fee for using Dr Who? Is BBC Wales still 100% funded from money made on selling Dr Who stuff? Could someone of got the great idea not to allow DWM to have inside info on the new series? I don't get DWM so don't know how much advance info it contains.
So that could explain why Panini don't have the money to pay for 2 extra pages of art

The previous editor was sacked, staff were sent on 'balance training' and the magazine budget was cut. This came out a while ago. I think it was in Private Eye.
So what we are seeing is a result of all that.

I think they should have called this new Time Time feature something else. OK, I lost interest last time the line-up changed (and would only dip into it every now and then), but it was continuing the plan and carried on the counters. This new approach of a handful of episodes from different eras (already covered by "The Time Team") around a theme just feels like something else.

Conspicuously biased towards the younger fan too. Nobody over the age of 40 (or probably 30!) in there!

I hadn't actually noticed Time Team had gone, but I see the last one was in 519 and half way through series six. Another item cut off in the middle of a run without any real explanation why. As said though, I'd given up reading that when it got to the new era so I hadn't realised.
I do though, find myself holding my tongue a lot with DWM now. I don't want to be negative, and I'm trying to hold back the raging Levine inside, but it does now feel like a fanzine pitched at post 2005 fans. The articles about the older series have a 'look guys, it used to be like this!' feel to them, rather than being genuinely interesting, while the editor seems to think dredging up articles like the Tardis Tin will appease older readers. For me personally, perhaps as an older reader now, I don't want to read what teenagers think about random episodes, or how to dress up as various characters, or read sub-fanfic level nonsense when there could be genuinely insightful and interesting content in the magazine. Less and less to read each month.

That said, the last issue did raise a question - the article about BBC Records and Tapes mentioned that 'Radiophonic Workshop - 21' featured a rejected mix of Delia Derbyshire's theme arrangement that was only used on the pilot episode. I just wanted to be sure I'd actually heard that. Is it on any other soundtrack releases? Is it on the DVD version of the pilot episode?
