Tra Gen Studio series Deluxe 86 Bonecrusher Product Number: G0568 .. Tra Gen Studio series Deluxe 86 Scavenger Product Number: G0570 Tra Gen Studio series Voy 86 Scrapper Product Number: G0562 Tra Gen Studio Series Voy 86 Mixmaster Product Number: G0563 Oh boy. Good luck to everyone trying to collect the whole set. You're at the mercy at the Gods of Distribution now... And I know they did the Bayverse Devastator as individual releases. And that was stressful, too. I'd say "I'm sure they've learned from previous issues" but we all know that's not the case. Also, there'll be a repaint box set at some point down the line. Surely. Is that an incentive to wait? And even if they're not, do you think they'll show us what Devastator's like before it's completed? If they don't, that's going to be a lot of going on faith. And a lot of them just assuming the fanbase will just throw money at them. Maybe it's time for Hasbro to get some assumptions tested and for things to not be taken as guaranteed any more.

I'm happy with Combiner Wars Devastator. Sure he's a fall-aparty wobbly ol' chap, but he's more than adequate. I'm not in for all the inevitable 'collecting stressors' there.

I'm guessing the Studio Series Constructicons won't show up until 2025. Still, when you look at the size of the Studio Series Dinobots, SS Devastator is going to be one BIG puppy when combined!
I still want my SS Swoop before them, though!

Well there's some interesting news. I'm down for another Devastator. He has always had the allure of the unobtainable for me back to those halcyon 85 days so I tend to feel the pull quite strongly. Also, combiner team. Sold.

I could see A Hoist and C Scavenger sharing legs but beyond that .... A Scavenger's arms are his tracks which are C Bonecrusher's legs

I really wanted Devastator to get a do-over, because of how monumentally bad CW Dev was...
...but this one is gonna be so boring. Just devoid of any personality or anything interesting to look at.

That's very cartoon accurate. (Yes I know.)

Eh, I'm mostly happy with how CW Devvy turned out - especially since I only paid £80 for it. I'm not going to complain at that price. (Although I really would've liked them to be regular CW figures, doing something clever for the torso, so you could've mixed and matched with the other combiners - that would've been fun, and also upset so many people.) And as you say, given how plain this one's going to be, I'll not be chasing it up. Although that's also because I already had a moment when I realised how much I'd spent collecting the SS Bayverse Devastator...

Well, if these are all deluxes (and two in one box to justify a commander price somehow) then that's somewhere north of £180 minimum. But spread out over a year or so? So not too bad.

Thoughts: Bonecrusher and Scavenger (arms) are deluxes, while Scrapper and Mixmaster (legs) are voyagers. Hook and Longhaul are MIA. So it's possible they're a commander class twopack, with all the devastator parts. Looks like you were on the money there

Do we think they'll be a Devastator or repaint Devastator boxset down the line?
There was a boxset for Studio Series Movie Devastator (eventually)

As an affirmed CW Devvy Hater, I am hoping this new 86 lad brings something different to the table.

I like UW Devvy (big and chunky fun) but a cartoon model one could be interesting.

My UW has always been a bit to bendy in bits of the leg that shouldn't bend. The wrong way round Mixmaster annoyed me as did the huge Longhaul. He just stood in my cupboard for years

CW Devastator is a wobble-monster, but he's nicely huge and fits the bill without being tooooooo cartoony.
If Generations are noew totally Sunbowing it HARD, why does Masterpiece still need to exist?

Aimed at different demographics/spending brackets I suspect. So probably they aren't canabilizing each others markets. (I'd say this is almost certain for Tomy - who seem to be aiming the Masterpiece line domestically at the same sort of demographic as are likely to buy Bandai's Soul of Chokogin line. The assumption is on slightly more shaky ground for Hasbro's thinking - as it doesn't feel to me like the US market is clearly stratified in the same way.
Mind you - from my perspective, I'd have said that from the point that the Masterpiece line went all-in on fidelity to animation models from a cheaply made animated show from the mid-eighties, instead of trying to achieve a modern reinterpretation of essence of those designs, only better I didn't really have any need for it to exist... :-)

So, confirming that as and when they do make new versions of other Scramble City Combiners the plan is to stick with the "you buy a big robot that comes with stuff to make them into a bigger robot, then you stick smaller robots onto that". Eh. That's fine - good to know in advance I don't have to give those any thought.

I don't mind. Doing combiners Scramble City style was the default for long enough so trying a different approach is fine.

I don't really give two shits about the combined modes. The best part about Legacy Stunticons is that unlike CW, the individual robots weren't severely compromised by the combination gimmick. Even if the result is the completely boring and uninspired sunbow Menasor who doesn't need any additional robot to be functional, we got five really great individuals that look like they should. I mean we already got nearly ever combiner already, a few years ago.
