"Retro inspired" Brawn sounds interesting, though. Could this be the Studio Series '86 Brawn, but with toy helmet and... the clamps! If that's the case then Seaspray's a puzzling one, since we've not had a cartoon accurate deluxe yet - not since his Prime Wars figure. Actual Deluxes or retro reissue Minibots sold at the deluxe price point?

Actual Deluxes or retro reissue Minibots sold at the deluxe price point? That... wouldn't surprise me. Although it would not make me happy. What I actually want - and this may come as a surprise - is retooled versions of the Prime Wars figures to look like the original toys. That way they'd then scale properly with the upcoming toy-style Generations Prime, and he'd be able to hold Brawn in his arms in a proper recreation of The Enemy Within. Which is what's important.

I... just... what? Okay, I mean this is cool, and all. I like the idea. And hurrah! A toy-styled Gears. I *will* be getting that. But Bumblebee is the older Netflix mold, instead of the SS 86 mold? And without a resculpted head to match the toy? What are they playing at?
Also, much as it's nice to see this style of packaging, clearly the environment is no longer a problem now we're welcoming back plastic bubbles with wild abandon. It's almost as if with Brian Goldner's passing the company's sole objective now is to just make the line go up, and they don't care how...

We don't know if the bubble is a different type of plastic.

The bumblebee has a new head but it's not the toy version? That's just dumb.

As a Retro Package style, they don't work. To emulate the old feel they should be packaged in vehicle mode (as the Retro Headmasters were so it's not like they can't do it). Easy pass.
ML Bumblebee will be a better fit for me.

All original Mini Autobots were packaged in robot modes after the initial batch.
And I didn't like it back then either...

Really disappointed they wimped out on doing a toy accurate Bee head. I guess they would have had to work out what the back looked like??? Love the packaging though. I WILL be buying seaspray whether it's a new toy or not. I have vivid memories of getting my G1 toy at a newsie in London as a kid.

I like Gears way more than the first release. The new head looks better, the shades of blue and red looks better, and the paint apps look better. But this is basically a nothing character for me, so do I like it enough to replace it so soon?
Bumblebee brings nothing new to the plate. And it's quite silly to give him a whole new head, and it not be based on the toy. That is like, literally the last head "needed" for this mold. And there is nothing retro about the sunbow design, anyway.

I was thinking the same thing, though I don’t imagine I’ll be keeping one carded anyway. Especially if the card backs are as flimsy as the GI Joe Classified retro-style releases.

These are fascinating. Ive been mildly underwhelmed by both of these moulds so far. But that toy accurate head next to the original boxart shows just how accurate Gears is.
While Bumblebee looks nothing much like the boxart or the animation model.

I just realised that I put that Gears on the cover of the Toy-Fu fanzine this year, so I'm kinda obligated to try and get one.
