The Spotlight Jazz preview looks interesting.
I am sure it's due to image compression, but does that say, "Prep for dick" at one point?

I would like to see the humans building giant traps, and not go shopping. And bring on the Morpho-bots and Roboinsecticide! lets leave the insecticide alone!

Huh. I am confused. I thought AHM was supposed to be a jumping on point for new readers. So, suddenly, eight issues in characters/plots from older IDW comics are thrown in and said new readers are expected to understand what's going on? This is pretty much how I feel was well. I also just don't get Sunstreaker's extream motivation! Surely he must realise it's not all humanities fault what happened to him? Don't get it.

To quote a JMS Marvel comic - the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, and what the right hand is doing is wanking off.

"Art by Guido Guidi" - yeah, bollocks, it clearly isn't in the preview. And hey, Bridge and Sarah are back after being utterly absent from the last four issues, with Bridge refering Sarah doing things we never saw. And references to rebel activity in New York we also haven't seen (and why didn't Spike turn to one of them to help?).

For all it's story faults, I've come to expect a certain standard of art for AHM and I have to say that the art for the Earth segments in AHM #9 didn't live up to the standard of the previous issues.

Nothing about this issue lived up to anything previous, really. A new low for AHM, Shane and IDW. Sorry to be so negative, but I have rarely been so dissappointed in a comic.

Yeah, I though it was a weak issue. Just goes to show, not even the return of Optimus Prime made the issue any better for me. The art in places was terrible. Esp Soundwave. What the hell?! I'm as flat as a pancake 'bout this series at the mo. Only interesting bit this issue was the Shockwave gun/refferance.

I have no idea as all I've read is the online 'Spike puts on jeans and talks like a moron' preview: does Prime have a heroic speech when he comes back or is it subtle?

Ratchet says Prime is nearly dead and going to be really tough to repair, and then a few pages later he pops up and gives a big 2-page spread speech.
It is either bad writing or a hologram. I am hoping for the latter even though it would be dumb
The art is really really jarring between the two styles. I DO like the idea that they aren't going for a uniform house style, but stuff like that works best issue to issue imo.
Also the cliffhanger was that ALL THE NATIONS OF EARTH WANT TO NUKE AMERICA
I'm sure we've had that cliffhanger before.

I see. But if the bad alien robot guys are all confined to one city, then nuking it to save the planet seems like a no-brainer.

I don't mind shifts in art style when the artists are both good (Roche and Raiz have very different styles but they both look GOOD on Max Dinos so I don't mind the mix-up, but AHM's art in this issue looks very very bad).
However, as the old saying goes - you can't polish a turd.

(If at all - it being subject to a certain level of potentially lethal misunderstanding after all.) On a tactical level it seems like a very sound move to me - a concentrated high value target that can be struck before they can disperse (which would beg the question of why exactly they haven't dispersed in order to make use of the initiative - if you don't push your advantage whilst you have it then you will likely lose it). Politically it is perhaps more difficult to swallow mind you. Karl

Oh I'm not saying it is a bad /idea/ or tactic
Just that the cliffhanger to issue 6 is a group of guys saying "Lets nuke New York", then nothing at all is heard of this afterwards, and then the cliffhanger to issue 9 is someone saying "They're going to nuke New York"

Point taken. If something is used as a cliffhanger then you have to pay it off next issue one way or another, You can't just ignore it and then do the same thing again later on. It isn't really good story-telling.

You could get a good gag out of every issue having the same cliffhanger though.

I had a flick through issue 9 in the comic shop; it is just awful.
One particular panel where Soundwave is carrying a deactivated Rumble and seemingly emitting frequencies of great sadness is so terrible I will never be able to scrape the image from my retinas.
At least AHM always looked nice. But this? *shudders*

I too had a flick. The writing appeared of the same standard as what I've seen of other issues. The poorer art merely more clearly revealed the strengths/limitations (delete according to taste) in the writing, I felt.

What the hell?!: tformers.com/pollBooth.php?op=results&pollID=401This just astounds me! Even more astounding are the reviews AHM is getting there. Have these people been reading the same AHM as the rest of us, or is there actually a good version out there? Admittedly, I did slightly enjoy issue 8 as it at least attempted to rectify some problems, but it still didn't make up for the seven issues of crap that came before it. Haven't read #9 yet, but will be approaching with much caution after reading G's post. - Tony

Not surprising. AHM feels like it's pitched at what folk on message boards have been shouting that they wanted ever since IDW got the licence.

Clearly IDW do not visit the Hub very often in that case! Having read the first 6 issues of AHM I am similarly surprised at its continued popularity. It is simply not very good for a variety of reasons as a piece of story telling let alone in comparison to earlier IDW output.

I brought the issue today and had a quick flick through it. Having two artists on it who both have different styles makes the issue look like its two different stories in one issue. I started to flick through it and was mildly impressed the opening panels then suddenly the art style changes to something similar to TF Animated.

An open letter to the Sunbow Fanboys;
That Transformers cartoon ended twenty two years ago. It's not coming back. Not as an animated series, a comic book, or a live action film. Move on with your lives. Please.

is soundwave literally doing that? sad frequencies? or are you describing the pic XD It isn't obvious what he's doing. However, it has the effect of disrupting the Decepticon jamming equipment.

I have a feeling that it was the tapes that were supposed to be doing the jamming. Though why only Rumble was doing it is up for question. I honestly have no idea what is happening in that section.
