Well I stole the news from TFW2005 who stole it from here... www.actoys.net/bbs/read.php?tid-241938.htmlWhat's to modify with the original mould though? I always thought the cartoon was pretty accurate. I guess the dino head could fold away a little better.

I'd agree - why change anything? And even given that it doesn't look like the animation model - why would you want to modify such a nicely engineered design in favour of an inaccurate secondary source? I'm not sure what I would want them to do to Grimlock to improve it to be honest - for a 1980's toy it is a particularly well engineered piece. Karl

HOLLY SHERBUT! MASTERPIECE GRIMLOCK?! *vomits with excitement*
Out of all the options, I think I'd like a G1 toy accurate MP, with modern materials/articulation. I'd want well articulated hands also. I agree the G1 toy is pretty good. Oh how marvelous! I mean, I'd have preffered the next MPs to have been Soundwave and Shockwave, but Grimlock would be sooooooo very very cool.
EDIT: Just thought, they'd have to get the heigh right, he MUST be at least as tall as Optimus and Megatron, if not a smidge taller. As well as that he'd have to be bulky, tough looking.

If it's an oversized re-engineering of the original Grimlock then I will be all over this like Sludge's tongue over Joy Meadows bosom.
The only improvements over the original I can think of is enabling the robot head to slide forwards in robot mode and improving the articulation.
Maybe it will breath fire?

Yeah this one should be nice and simple for them. Though i would be happy to see it keep the detail and transformation of the original but have the robot mode have something closer to the animation models proportions. Which mostly would mean a bit chunkier upperlegs. I've always been partial to the animation models colour scheme too.

Great news, I'm really looking forward to this one.
If we do use our power responsibly we'll probably be the first group of people to do that ever...

Imagine the fanboy explosions if it turned out to a new version of Pretender Grimlock's outer shell! Tee hee!

Grimlock looks nice - rather like the animation model. Masterpiece Grimlock on the other hand, I am potentially excited about. I am sure he'll come with his Grimlock's New Brain headset as a given, but I at least hope Takara will make a nod to Budiansky Grimlock and accessorise him with a couple of crowns.

There's a larger picture on TFW2005 (where I have indeed tried to coin the phrase Optimouse, christ I'm bored), where you can see that Grimlock is holding something. Is he serving food (and if so will he come with a bow-tie?) or is it a crown. Difficult to tell.

Don't tell me there was an episode of the cartoon where Grimlock served food?!

Surely you've seen Madman's Paradise? I don't think I have. The only post-Movie episodes of the old cartoon I've seen are the ones that were on video at the time that I managed to get hold of. Uhm, Dark Awakening, Fight or Flee, and Grimlock's New Brain.

Having had to pass up getting Megatron and Starscream (and the MP repaints, for that matter), I shall have to save up for Grimlock.

I'll wait until higher resolution coloured pics but so far this may be the first MP with 'must buy' written on it, for me.
