It has a special place for me being one of the very early VHS releases, but in the context of that season it's not one of the best.

That is the cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers it has to be said.
The music is a bit suspect too.

I love the mad music in it. Wonderfully eccentric. So much better than the monotony Dudley Simpson had settled into by then.

10 years ago or so I was within a stone's throw of the Renegade Dalek base. Unfortunately other commitments meant that I was not able to head around the corner to eyeball it. (No, I can't tell you what the circumstances were. Not just because of classification reasons, but because I can't actually remember. Part of the agreement when I left a previous freelance advisory role... It is occasionally annoying but I do recall agreeing that it was in the national and planetary interest.) Karl

It certainly was. Seventh was totally bad-ass in it! Did he destroy Skaro?!?! I never realised just how utterly BRILLIANT McCoy is as The Doctor. He's the best of all the others combined with his own quirky genius holding it all together. It's just as big a revelation as watching Third after Blueshift sent me those DVDs a few years back. Seventh is right up there. Right up there. I didn't enjoy Happiness Patrol as much, but Silver Nemesis is shaping up nicely. I can't believe they only gave Seventh three series. The bastards.

Did he destroy Skaro?
Well, that's a question. You may choose to believe he did and they somehow brought it back, unless your name is John Peel, not the DJ but an author with the same name, who had the Daleks trick the Doctor and he destroyed a world called Anatalin iirc. The book is called Wank I mean War of the Daleks with the Eighth Doctor.

Silver Nemesis has two problems (well three)
1) It's two stories after Remembrance and essentially doing a very similar thing
2) Those stupid chromed Cybermen costumes with darker body suits, which are impossible to light properly, and the spark effect guns. The Earthshock to Attack of the Cybermen versions of both were much better
3) The reshuffle of the season that means Ace is already wearing Flowerchild's earing on her jacket.... before she meets Flowerchild. Something similar happens in s26

No, but continuity....

Seventh was totally bad-ass in it! Did he destroy Skaro?!?! No, no... Davros destroyed Skaro. Seven even begged him not to do it. He just provided Davros with the weapon, Davros pulled the trigger... Remembrance is one of my favourite examples of the McCoy Doctor as the Trickster archetype. He puts in place all the pieces needed to allow the enemy to overcome themselves, and then he allows their own nature to lead them to set the rube-goldberg trap in motion. He even gives them the opportunity to not be destroyed. All Davros needs to do to avoid the destruction of Skaro is to not abuse the power of the Hand for destruction. But Davros chooses to do evil with it, and that evil is turned upon him... It is pure " Oh please Mr McGregor, don't throw me in the Briar Patch"... Geuinely one of my favourite Doctors of all time. Right up there with the Troughton version (the predecessor McCoy's version most reminds me of). Karl
