There is an AMC next city up from where I will be at that time... I must consider my options!

There have been a few promo screenings in the states for remastered episodes as the box sets have been coming out, which is good.
I was quite amused by an ad for the stand-alone release of 'Best of Both Worlds' which proclaimed it has the most amazing cliffhanger of all time (or words to that effect) except that the same ad also said it had been edited together into a movie format, thus removing the cliffhanger.
*bangs head off desk*
I recall the VHS 'movie' edit and it didn't really work.

Hrm, SyFy's current showing of Season 3 on HD appears to have been upscaled for SD, rather than the nice shiny new versions we were shown of S1/2.
Also - they've cut some of the fight scenes. In the episode Hunted or perhaps High Ground (can't remember) there was probably a headbutt or something that got removed as it suddenly cut to the recipient on the ground.

HD Season 3 hasn't been released yet so SyFy will be showing the older stuff.
Yes, I've noticed their 'interesting' cuts as well. Still amused by how they say "Warning: Contains Adult Themes or the like every time.

That's what I thought, so to save space on the Sky+ box, I'm just recording SyFy normal channel.
Really liked the S3 episode Yesterday's Enterprise where the ship comes to the future from 22 years previous.

There's a good reason for that: it's the best episode of the entire series. Shame they had to spoil the ending by creating Sela from it but hey ho.

Sela can be easily ignored if wished. The way Crosby plays it that character could easily have been lying through her teeth and/or has intelligence from when Tasha may have survived from the battle for a period of time under interrogation. Heck, Nemesis later shows that Romulans aren't above mad schemes to clone/impersonate Starfleet officers for nutty reasons!
Sela is only the daughter of Tasha if the viewer wants her to be. At least that's how I always read it.

Indeed. Sela's background is the sort of thing that if I was in Starfleet Intelligence I would have assigned a "low" level of reliability to. An enemy operative in the middle of a high-risk situation drops a piece of information that threatens to unsettle the enemy commander and get under his skin when he needs a cool head and clear judgement. I'd be as inclined to tag it as a possible psychological operation. Because after all, it isn't like the Romulans have a reputation for being cool-headed, devious operators or anything.
(Now, I think the writers probably intended it to be the absolute truth, but within the frame of the fiction I'd be wanting DNA comparison before I even thought about giving it any kind of credence)

Not just her background, the mere concept that there might have been survivors from the Enterprise C annoys me. It was a fab one off story they should have left it alone.
It's also the only episode from the first 3 seasons I missed the BBC2 transmission of - I'd had a car crash and was in hospital.
Mind you I had owned it on dodgyvideoavision for 6 months by then ;-)

I personally never had any strong feelings about Tasha Yar. And honestly, I forget Sela exists until she turns up in an episode.
The best Romulan villain for the series would have been basically a Romulan mirror of Picard. Someone with honor, dignity, and courage. Someone who's as reluctant for war, and as comitted to preserving the peace as Picard. Someone that under different circumstances, the two would have likely been best friends. Yet instead, they're constantly having to stare each other down. Trying to call each other's bluff. Never quite believing the other is what he seems. They sorta tried that with Tomalok, but it never really worked out very well. I liked Tomalok, too.
Honestly... the romulan senator from Nemesis, who ultimately betrayed and opposed Shinzon... I *liked* her. She should have been in the series from the start.

Tomalok's fab, reportedly Patrick Stewart's favourite villain hence his show stealing cameo in All Good Things. He's my favourite too, top performance from the late great Andreas Katsulus.

Aargh, so close! I knew they couldn't realistically wait too long to do that. But when are these companies going to learn about the whole global internet thing? What advantage do they really get in this day and age by holding back _digital_ release based on geography? They could be taking my money!

Region locking in the digital era pisses me off.
I am not a huge Itunes fan but I would buy it off there as I lack a Blu-Ray drive.
I want to give them money FFS!

Eugh, I was enjoying the lack of Lwaxanna Troi, then this stupid episode with the Ferenghi comes along towards the end of S3. Still, at least I learnt where that Annoyed Picard meme picture comes from.

Pretty sure he was beamed up from Betazed with Mrs. Troi, Miss Troi and Riker, but then wasn't in the cell on the Ferenghi ship...?

He wasn't. Only Riker, Deanna, and Lwaxanna were kidnapped.
I always liked Lwaxanna. If only for the mischief she caused everyone else. Where else will we see Picard peeping out into a corridor before tentatively stepping out? I also always wished she'd appeared in DS9 more. She had a good chemistry with Odo.

I'll always remember watching TNG with my parents and seeing one episode end with Picard giving the order to leave orbit and carry Mrs Troi to her destination, then whispering to Riker "...warp 9." My dad rarely passes comment while watching TV. Few shows don't send him to sleep, but this prompted a rare comment: "Tear the ship apart, but get her ootta here!" It's pretty clear he enjoyed their interplay as much as you, Crazy

Honestly I found most Lwaxana appearances excruciating, though there was possibly a good one on DS9. My fondest memory of the character is PAD's Q-in-law novel, which on paper is a bit of a fanwanky sounding idea but I remember really enjoying it back in the day.

S3 of TNG now finished (although missed the first few eps as didn't know SyFy had started showing it after reruns of S1/2HD)... Will be taking a break after S4E1.

Actually, Vector Prime is supossed to be based directly on the Sith Infiltrator that the vastly overrated Darth Maul flew is Star Wars I. Saw the new movie today. Anyone who enjoyed the first will enjoy this. Anyone who hated the first, will hate this. Although, while it still has a sense of humor, the silliness is dialed waaaay back. it's also quite a bit longer this time (Almost two and a half hours by my calculations). There's also not as much lenseflare. I recall a lot of people here complaining about the gratuitus lenseflare of the first. The science doesn't hurt as bad in this one. But I have strong issues with something else: I can't buy that the final battle between the Enterprise and the dreadnaught taking place in earth's orbit, and starfleet was completely oblivious. I'd think that the dreadnaught would have been swarmed with ships coming to the Enterprise's aid. Especially since there were a bunch there when the Enterprise left on it's mission.
