He's been peddling that for over a year now. Bless him, but I think he has as much chance as Takei did in the 90's of trying to get a Captain Sulu show.

Captain Worf would be BRILLIANT!!!!
He'd have to marry his responsibilities as ship's Captain with his Klingon herritage and warrior instincts!

Kinda crazy, IMO, but I think a decent show runner could square the loonier parts and make it work, and make sense. Also, I believe that it was other people, pre-TNG who were pushing for a Star Trek: Excelsior with Captain Sulu, while Takei kept refusing believing no one would want to see a show with him. Happy to stand corrected, but that's what I'd always read. Captain Worf would be BRILLIANT!!!! He'd have to marry his responsibilities as ship's Captain with his Klingon herritage and warrior instincts! You didn't actually read that, did you? Because what he says is kinda the opposite of that.

I stumbled on it a while back. It's not Trek, but I like it better than Captain Worf. And it also does something I felt the next Trek series should do: not be a Starfleet ship.
(Though they would need a new costume designer because historically civilian outfits have been hilariously awful)

And it also does something I felt the next Trek series should do: not be a Starfleet ship. See, I actually strongly disagree with that. Ask any Star Trek fan and they'll come up with some wild and crazy unique new idea for a Trek series. But everything old is new again. We've not had a 'ship flies about familiar Federation space' show since, well, TNG and that was 20+ years ago. (Not really counting Enterprise there as it had a very different feel).

It would be great to see how the TNG universe was doing.

Well, unless they wanted to completely decanonize the reboot, then we know Romulus is destroyed (that would be kinda interesting to see this new dynamic), and Riker is captain of the Luna-Class USS Titan. That would also be interesting to jump into. A veteran captain Riker, with a crew that's been recently assigned to the aging Titan.

I don't think a non-starfleet vessel would be wild and crazy. Nor do I think it couldn't serve the adventure-a-week format. I'm not talking about some ship of freedom fighters, or some Section 37 (or whatever. I hate them) superspy ship. But more like Firefly meets Trek. Or a civilian science vessel. Honestly I think it may have more range being able to go places that a starfleet or military vessel couldn't.

I watched Spock's Brain for the first time last month and thought it was good. Admittedly my expectations were extremely low, but I didn't feel a strong urge to switch over at any time.

I been thinking a lot about ships lately, as I've been aquiring and watching the TOS era (show and movies) on bluray.
They did a really lousy job of making the Constitution-class seem like the supership it's ment to be. When you watch the next gen era, through the end of DS9, Voyager, and even up through Nemesis... All the ship classes that were active during the time that the Constitution reigned supreme... Even the ones that were decades older like the Oberth-class, still formed the backbone of Starfleet. Still fought in major galaxy shaping battles. Even the Excelsior herself was mentioned multiple times in fleet statistics. Now, I know that behind the scenes, they had their policy that a Hero ship is not to be used, until it's not a star anymore. This is why we never saw Galaxies until after Generations. And why we never saw the Sovereign or Intrepid classes. But this, in combination with the fact that the movies seemed almost dedicated to making us know the Enterprise is run down and constantly at risk of being decommissioned, just makes it seem like the Constitution (and not the Excelsior) is the great failed experiment. I kinda feel like this is a great disservice to the most iconic design in the franchise.

Didn't they give them a brand new one at the end of STIV anyway? They wouldn't have done that if the class itself was considered a failure. Martin

Several Constitution class ships were seen in the original series. The Enterprise is just one of them.
