You don't forget your first Japanese launcher when you see how much more powerful they are. Mine was the Godbomber I got in 1992 All reissues over here were the same as the US - spriings plus super long missiles. The original G1 figures had extra weak springs in the US and UK, that may be where the confusion arises. I don't think missile length has ever been a reason given to not reissue a figure, pretty much every reissue has had missiles modified to be longer. That's not strictly true..... All the missiles were the same length in the USA & UK on the recent 2000s series of TRU reissues ( Commemorative Series). From memory: Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Apex Armour Optimus Prime, Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Jazz & Ricochet had longer missiles than they originally had. Prowl, Silverstreak, Smokescreen, Sideswipe, Red Alert, Hoist, Inferno, Grapple, Tracks and Skids all had their original length missiles but had the springs removed. In addition Prowl, Silverstreak, Smokescreen, Jazz & Ricochet lack the chrome from their missiles and weapons. HOWEVER.... The earlier Gold Boxed Classics had the original length missiles and, if my memory is correct, more powerful launchers than on the originals. These weren't released in the USA and thus not subject to their safety standards. IIRC they are thought to be of the same origin as the Chinese transformers that got imported at around the same time.

I recall the first time I saw a Max (Brave) Max at Nick's house. It blew my mind in two.

I played with one in Hamleys.
My friend Richard has a Fortress. I coveted it.

Cover it in tiny Transformers WST if you got em it looks even BIGGER!!!!!!
Actually forget that, put it next to the second biggest Transformer you own and be awed by just how small that figure really is.

Martin Unless they are very very short (or under 2) then it might still work. Ken we await your latest work to find out.

He's next to Scorponok. It's quite a contrast in size.

Skorpornok: "What's that? Fortress Maximus is here? Ok. I'll get Fortress Maximus to fight me!"
Rest of the Decepticons (looking at Skorpornok coming up to Maximus' knees): "Yeah, good luck with that boss...."

As toys go, it's as big and impressive as a crane I once got for Christmas.

I do like a toy I can rest a cup of tea on. Best thing ever would be if you rested a cup of tea on him, turned your back, then turned back to find some of the tea had been drunk. Martin

Well, I have to say I'm just not getting it.
He's just a big Transformer and that's all.
Every other single Transformer transforms into something. FM just transforms into a random jumble of box shapes. Pretty formless and without reason.
The legs are good and chunky, but the arms are pretty skinny. I'd appreciate a neck on the big fella. His head is deep into his chin and his left hand blind spot is a bit of a worry. The lack of symmetry on the shoulders is very off putting.
The lift and jail gimmicks are cool, but he isn't painted with the most inspiring pallette of colours.
Maybe he'll grow on me.

Just thinking about it, I'm happier to have all twelve of the original Pretenders.

Why be sorry? Don't be silly.
Happy to have done the transaction. I/We (technically its an 'us', you and I, Nick) donated to charity which is a very good thing. The transaction between us was nigh on perfect. I am happy to say I own one of fandom's grails. I am happy for the experience in general.
I wouldn't have bid if I didn't think it was going to be a good idea and a worthy purchase.
Elliott.

I kind of feel exactly the same, I don't think I've transformed it from robot mode since the day I got it, but I just think of it as a 2 foot tall actionmaster and it makes me all the happier. ;D I do agree on the neck though I've got a junk Brave I'm trying to rebuild and a neck is on my list.

But everyones mileage varies I guess. Karl

They are all great. But I think you need to use him with other figures - Legends, Micromasters or Spychangers - to really get the most out of him.
I love Spike's control room in the tower.

Mostly its just that I don't have the room for any mode except robot in truth. If I had room I'd probably alternate a little.
The only place it would fit is where it is now but I'd have to move Brave Max, Black Zarek, Supreme Cyb Starscream and a bunch of other large figures.

I'm in the same boat, Andy- I love the city mode and would have Brave in that form all the time with all the trains and car brothers arranged on his instructions/playmat.

My Brave Max doesn't have it's playmat :-(
.... and even if it did I'd be coveting the larger one that came with the competition prize version: the regular release is cut down. There's a picture of both in Generations 2011 v2,

Should be getting the photos soon of Fortmax taken in the studio. Robot mode would stand toe-to-toe with my daughter if she could walk.
