Well I see that the celebration called Christmas came and went without incident. I hope everyone had a good time!
Myself, Leigh, close family and the dogs retreated to the Highlands of Scotland (well, more Morayshire actually) for an intimate few days spent either on long walks on the beach (imagine Christmas Day on a beach, and not being in Australia!) or quiet nights in front of the log fire.
With most of the family now in their late 80s (and my great Uncle in fact, 92) there was much talk of mortality, the paths of life and of course, the best ways to treat a sore throat. I was simply happy to sit and absorb the wisdom.

Absolutely cream-crackered. Not much sleep last night walked the three miles to my Gran's to "fix" her new DVD player (she needed the scart cable plugged in) and couldn't get away without her giving me money for doing it. Felt incredibly guilty so took the money and used it to buy her a new scart cable (as she used the one from her VCR for the DVD player) and felt much better. Walked back home and then had to walk Susie and then hoover the living room - which is covered in dog hair. So ten miles or so and an hour long hoovering session.
Now with a cup of tea and about to grab a shower, pack my new year gear and lie down I think!

I wonder what it is with the Metrocentre. It seems to be exerting an almost gravitational effect on the Northeast of England, drawing all the people towards it with their mobile telephones clamped towards their ears. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few days there were rumours of a strange bloke in a blue box being sighted in the area warning people away.
I am just back from a few days down at my mothers Not doing very much in particular. Just spending time with my mother and sister chatting, a few walks out to local landmarks and generally enjoying each others company - as we are now spread quite diversely over the UK we don't get to see each other as often as we used to. Had very smooth journey's too and from, except for the leg from Hartlepool to Newcastle this morning, which was litterally crammed to a reasonable definition of overloaded with folk going to the Metrocentre. Getting off at Newcastle was a little bit hairy to say the least. Fortunately there is a nice bar/coffee shop on the station where I was able to get a nice cup of coffee and settle down in a very comfortable chair to do some reading whilst I awaited my train further north.

He was smart enough to know that having a lego brick patterned rubber body condom was only going to work if you had a mustache.
