Well, it doesn't need to be someone who can draw realistic humans, which is a point against the early Marvel US artists (whose strength lay on that side) and in favour of the Marvel UK and G2 ones (who couldn't draw realistic humans for toffee).
The level of violence suggests Yaniger, but since Death's Head is in it, it had better be Geoff Senior. (As he used to be.)

There can be only one:
NICK ROCHE!

I personally wouldn't wish for a comic version if it. It's so perfectly suited to prose.

I am in agreement with Ralph.
Besides, James's prose is so visceral at times, certain images my own imagination has formed from his words are so ingrained in my brain that no comic adaptation would replace them!

I'm with Ralph and G. The only way Eugenesis would work is if everybody did their own graphic novel version of it as certain scenes we have in our heads and work so well that another interpretation of them wouldn't come close to matching it.

I gave thought to Eugenesis not just as prose work but a sweeping visual experience. After reading Eugenesis, it seems like it easily could be adapted into a graphic novel format. I wouldn't mind seeing it integrated "officially" into Transformers UK's mythos. It's sort of like Lord of the Rings. Not everyone agrees on the graphic adaptations but each gives a different interpretation making the whole experience more well rounded.
Incidentally, did any fan or pro artists render Eugenesis scenes?

I'd have to find myself amongst the group who feel that a comics adaption of Eugenesis wouldn't really do it justice. I feel that its strengths would be diluted in a format like that and there would likely be too much emphasis on the eye-candy of the battle sequences, which would be to loose too much of what makes Eugen worthwhile for me.

I hope people don't think I just lurk and lurk and lurk, scanning threads for mentions of Eugenesis, but anyway, I just want to say that I'm chuffed people still think about it.
When I wrote it, it was very visual - especially the opening sequence on Aquaria. Like a teaser, really. A movie in my mind.
Anyway, Nick Roche would be my choice for an artist, but I dread to think how many issues there would have to be. Nice TPB at the end of it, though.

Incidentally, did any fan or pro artists render Eugenesis scenes? A few of us have done. Andy T did a cool one of the fall of Metroplex. I did a couple of scenes on Cybertron featuring the Ark (one on the way to battle, one with battle joined): Martin

Love both those pics Martin.

Your Metroplex pic is in the Eugen section of the TMUK DVD if you feel like resurrecting it. There's also one there of the Autobot sniper by Mark, I think.
As I recall. someone had the idea of doing an 'Art of Eugenesis' special. It was one of those ideas that just didn't generate a big enough response to see the light of day. But we got a few pics done between us as a result of it, which was something.

Andrew Borkett did one as well of the fight on Autobot City.
I'd hate to try and resurrect it, though I might try my hand at it from scratch. Be interesting to see the difference.

Great job Martin! I would love to see an 'Art of Eugenesis' book or magazine. Perhaps a revisit, thanks to this thread, will get everyone's creative juices flowing! I would participate but my artwork is fairly limited, to stick drawings.

I also did one of Kup facing off against the Quintessons. Maybe there should be a page on the Underbase collating all this stuff together? Mx

I think I used the Kup picture in Junk Files too. I don't seem to have it on my computer anymore though if I did. There seems to be a lot more artists around here than there was when art of Eugenesis was first mooted, maybe it would take off more this time.

There are so many scenes worth illustrating. Off the top of my head, I've always wanted to see Death Head tear off Galvatron's arm. Death Head never forgets, yes?

Not sure there's much of a 'market' for an 'Art of' in itself. The number of times I've plugged the book elsewhere and been met with silence. There is an inherant resistance to fan stuff (especially of charged for it) because it's not 'offficial'.
But maybe a few pieces on-line or in a mag might work nicely.

Here's hoping a lot more people have a look at Eugenesis on the back of what they've read of Last Stand of the Wreckers.

I have wanted to read Eugenesis since forever ago, but my big prblem is that I just simply CANNOT sit and read prose fiction from my monitor. Don't ask me why, I don't know. I just can't.
In fact, it's my biggest hope for AA this year that maybe James would consider a second printing. If he did, then hell yes, put me down for a pre-order!
Because unless I can get my hands on a physical copy, I'll probably never get it read. And that hurts.

Then buy a pack of A4 and print off a copy of the pdf. Ask a friend if you haven't got a printer.

If I wasn't about to move overseas I'd be willing to lend my print copy. :/ Though my former landlord nearly destroyed it.
Also, I'm sad that "The Art Of" never really took off. At the original idea's inception I was too busy to get round to anything, sadly... Maybe I should re-read and see what inspires me after my exams.

I'm sure Graham would be capable of doing a nice professionally printed version in a binding of some sort if you lobbied him hard enough.

But I don't know when I actually leave for Japan, and I'd be hoping for it back beforehand. :/
