Perhaps this might help those annoyed about Animated's demise. Cover now revealed

This is a must-buy for me - for the model sheets alone!

I shall pick this up. I enjoyed the Ark books and I'm a sucker for TF art type books.

I might spring for this myself. I haven't seen much of the show but I like the design aesthetic, and I do have a great love of model sheets.
It can join the select band of art-books I have owned for shows I have barely seen.

It's a pretty nice tome. It's all written 'in universe', which readers will either love or hate but I personally think adds a lot of life to it. Book is from the chaps who did the 'Ark' books. Whether or not you're an Animated fan, if you like TF design books you'll enjoy it. I'm not a big Animated fan but I think the book is tops. The most interesting bit for me was the section of designs for Transformers: Hero (the original idea that became Animated)from 2004-ish. Much closer to what the live action movie designs would become. Interesting stuff.

I'm slowly working my way through the book and enjoying it muchly. There's even a Visionaries reference in there!
And agreed, the Hero stuff was the most interesting and I wish there was more of that in the book. Hopefully it's sold well enough that they can do a second volume with the season 3 designs and hopefully more background toy design stuff.

I got mine, but haven't read it yet. I enjoy what I see, however, and do like that each character is written about by another character.

Ordered mine yesterday so should hopefully have it by mid week. Looking at the preview pages I'm really not liking the typography, but that's not exactly a big issue. Can't wait to have decent references for drawing these suckers.

You can hear an interview with co-author Jim Sorenson approx 1 hour and 15 mins into ep 70 of the Moonbase 2 podcast: moonbase2.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=518128He also talks about The Complete Ark, which has a fair few additions and improvements made over the individual volumes. May have to pick it up now! -Ralph

So I'm still waiting for my Almanac from Amazon. It was meant to be dispatched on the 24th. Sent them an email - they replied saying to wait until Sep 4th. Having paid an extra £2.75 to have it within 1-2 days, it's rather annoying. The joys of the Royal Mail.

Just got my Almanac delivered. I cannot stress how perfectly tailored this whole book is to me. All the model refs I need, all the backdrops etc....it's all come together perfectly. Can't wait to get a proper read through it.

I could do with that one to be honest.

My copy arrived today. It looks good on a quick flick through. Straight to the top of the "books to read next" list*, I think.
*Yes, I know, technically, I can only read one book next so there can't actually be a list.

From interviews, Jim Sorenson has indicated that he and Bill Foster would like to do a second book if sales warrant it, which is where the season 3 stuff would go.

My copy has arrived. Yay! Something to dive into this evening.
Mind, I've only seen the pilot episode of Animated so far, though.
