Yay! More snow! Not enough to call off work for a "snow day" though.
But the dog loves going out in it, and so do I! We're talking three or four separate walks a day at the moment! I haven't had this much fresh air or exercise for ages.

I love reading all the stuff you tell us about Piglet, bud. Maybe in a couple of years I can share stories about one or two of my own kids also.

"Toys are “relatively recession proofâ€, agrees Mintel, the market research group"
You're telling me! It was bare shelves and an empty stock room when I was last in Toys'r'us!
Speaking of, after no shifts at all last week (granted I was technically on holiday) I'm back in Tuesday -> Saturday. Yay for more money coming in, boo for getting up at 7 again.

I got some sad news today regarding Zip and Star's brother 'Titch'. George and I sometimes get in contact with the owners of Titch and another brother Bob to swap photos our cats. Titch sadly had to be put down on Boxing Day and out of suffering from a mystery poisoning in his system. The little girl in the house who often played with Titch really misses him. I mentioned Titch before in 2007 as being the runt in the litter, and the reason we had to take Zip and Star away from thier mother earlier than arranged. I am glad that George and I helped buy the little guy some time and to spend a happy life despite how short it was. herokenflatt.blogspot.com/2009/02/titch.html===KEN

Spent the morning down at STRIVE (where I did the recent skills course) on an appt with Job Support Officer for 3 hours. Applied for two jobs, made an enquiry about another. Did some cold calling, with a bit of help. Back on Thursday morning to pick up train tickets for an interview on Friday and to do a mock interview for prep. If that does not pan out, they've identified a place that would suit me that they might be able to persuade to let me do some volunteering but we'll take a look at that next week.
Honestly, this place do everything the Job Centre Plus doesn't do. If the JCP provided this level of help I'm sure unemployment figures would not be so bad.

The ballot to have the union recognised within my workplace took place last Thursday and today we discovered the results. More workers voted against the union than what they did for it. It seems that these people are more than happy to be paid the minimum wage (or just a few pence above it), have the minimum amount of paid holidays a year and get virtually no sick pay if they are off ill. Furthermore, they are happy to work under lying gaffers who kick their workers in the teeth just so that they can put a few extra quid in their own pockets.
I posted a similar comment to the one above on my Facebook status update and within moments my supervisor (who is listed as one of my friends on Facebook) replied with an insult directed at me. He sure didn't waste any time!

My Penis Currently is the same colour as Darth Vader's lightsaber
Checks title, has filth and nerd references so all is good.
So how does my dick glow bright red I hear you ask. Well that's simple really, going out running in the fucking freezing cold, wearing shorts and deciding for some inexplicable reason to not bother with underwear will sort that out for you.
Now during the run itself, the various stresses and strains meany I felt none of this. Then I stopped and I felt THE PAIN. That's right it's in capital letters, pain like that warrents the capitals. So I'm in the shower and decide to look, after a few minutes under the warm water to try and restore some girth. The tip of it is bright fucking red and cold to the touch.
Don't worry folks though, it seems to be okay now and isn't quite as red as it was. I'd really rather not have to go to the doctor and discover I'd gotten frostbite there.
Never a dull moment....

I'm not really too familiar with Star Wars. What colour is Darth Vader's light saber?
If it's green, then you need to get to the doctor ASAP.

Honestly, this place do everything the Job Centre Plus doesn't do. If the JCP provided this level of help I'm sure unemployment figures would not be so bad. -Ralph It sounds like these STRIVE folks are doing a fantastic job. It is far better than the level of support that was available last time I was unemployed. Great that they seem to be going the extra mile to provide support and assistance. Andy, hope the pain subsides. That doesn't sound pleasant at all. I had my fair share of pain this evening, induced by a train. I left work a bit earlier than yesterday, aiming to get a train at twenty-past five.. By the time it turned up it was running about ten minutes late and was already stuffed with large numbers of people. I got on the train and found myself carried across the doorway by the tide of people following me. I ended up with one leg wedged between the catering trolley and the wall, the other one twisted around slightly to balance me, whilst the handle of the trolley was pushed into my stomach, and my back was canted forward at about twenty degrees off the vertical. So things proceeded for twenty minutes as we rattled our way towards Linlithgow, with the pain in my knee and stomach and the base of my spine becoming more noticeable all the time. When we arrived at Linlithgow I had to get off the train anyway, as there were other people behind me disembarking. Unlike other folk though, I decided to not reembark. I waited the fifteen minutes for the train behind it, by which time I had just about got my back and stomach feeling like they were back to the correct shape. What makes matters worse is that I renewed my season ticket this morning. So I had shelled out £160, and been rewarded with the dubious pleasures of that for my journey home. I love commuting. Addendum: Ken, sorry to hear about Titch. Karl

Really enjoyed Uni yesterday. I got to talk about Sherlock Holmes, timelines, study the discourse on Sex & The City (a show I've never watched btw), watched a screening of Some Like It Hot (1959) and poked fun at the Ewen McGreggor Davidoff adverts with the class.
I have my good days and my stressful off days, but am making the most of uni whilst I am there.
Ta, for all the comments on Titch you guys. And Karl, hope your commuting woes let up soon. I don't miss cramped trains at all from when I used to commute to Bath.
