Having just seen that Silverhawks clip, I don't know why I didn't realise before that the best thing to do while flying a spaceship is to play the guitar.

I'm definately going to get the DVD boxset of Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors when I can scrape a few spare quid together. It was one of those shows that I never missed a single episode of when I was younger and the episode mentioned at the begining of that review about the crystal planet is the only episode I can remember clearly to this day.
In other news, I got my DVD boxsets of both series of Dogtanian from Amazon today after selling the individual DVD's recently on Ebay. The reason behind this is that I'm running vastly out of space for my DVD addiction and so I'm slimming down my collection by flogging the individual DVD's of a certain show and getting the much more slimmer boxsets to save space.

I picked up the first half of Season 2 of Thundercats yesterday. This was an essential purchase for me not only because I already have the Season 1 boxsets but also because Season 2 was never shown in the UK so it will be interesting to see these episodes for the first time.

One thing I like most about 80's cartoons are the catchy theme tune. Before I started my obsession with collecting any 80's cartoon that was released on DVD all I had were the theme tunes buzzing around inside my head even though I hadn't seen any of the shows since the 80's like the aforementioned Pole Position.

Pole Position's theme was awesome. I have a feeling the show itself, like MASK, will not hold up in the cold light of not-nostalgia.

I am still bitter about how crap shows like MASK and Thundercats seemed when viewed years later as an adult. -Ralph

Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors is another show I loved as a kid but the fact it didnt have any sort of conclusion would put me off collecting the full series. Ditto Dungeons and Dragons. I need to collect the rest of dogtanian and then the only other full series I'd like to get is David the Gnome. Actually it kinda did have a conclusion. J. Michael Straczynski mentioned at a convention some time that he wrote a feature length ending to the show where the Monster Minds captured Jayce's dad. It ended with Jayce having a sword fight with Saw-boss and cutting off his arm before uniting the majic root and destroying all the monster minds. As you know it didn't get made. Lee.

Like you, I don't think they are as good as I used to remember them and all of my memories of sitting in front of the TV on Saturday mornings or weekday afternoons have been shattered. That however hasn't stopped me buying every DVD of 80's cartoons I used to watch though.

They are never as good as remembered as we can never be quite the same person we were at 8, and so on.

Happily MCOG has held my interest. I didnt get to far in before work got so hectic that I didnt have time to watch it and since finishing I not had the chance to sit down and watch anything on DVD. So far no disappointment. Im actually impressed with how good it is.

I got the Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors DVD boxset a couple of days ago and have to say it isn't too bad. Story wise the first three episodes are bit ropey but they do get better. In terms of DVD quality there are a few bits here and there that are a bit poor (low sound quality on one episode, a slight picture problem on a couple of episodes etc.) but in all it isn't a bad set and will be purchasing the second boxset if and when it comes out.

Rights issues. Hasbro owns the names and trademarks, Bandai own the likenesses and designs. And never the twain shall meet!

I would still buy it. One of those crappy little 80's shows that has faded into obscurity.

No luck finding a yarr version so far either except for the joy that is the Rock Lords movie.
I too would cheerfully pick up a GoBots DVD set.

I picked up the final DVD boxset of the Thundercats at the weekend along with the DVD of classic 80's plasticine show The Trap Door.
