Stardub Episode 52 - A Burnsing Sensation

We kick off the first in an unusual set of episodes of the Stardub podcast. Due to real life issues, it's proved a bit troublesome for Ralph and Andy to be available as the same time and given we have been a bit behind we decided to rope in some friends to help us get back on track.

Long time listeners it means we are still to give you the ending of the Sixth Doctor retrospective.

Andy has the controls so he has enlisted some help for this podcast where we not only debut the first replacement Ralph, but our ALL-NEW THEME TUNE, although it's not all-new to anything other than us as it was made for a computer game in 1987. Don't judge me, I get enough of that elsewhere. It's a splendid tune though.

Stardub Episode 53 - Wonder Who-Man!!!

Right, the first living and breathing Stunt Ralph takes his place alongside Andy for your irregularly scheduled Stardub podcast installment.

We welcome Kaptain Karl Thurgood to the show (as he was the very, very first Stunt Ralph - waay back in our Eurovision special a few years back) and we subject him to the failed Wonder Woman pilot of a few years ago, before moving on to some quality with the first episode of the latest series of Doctor Who.

Stardub Episode 54 - Free The Portland Bill Two!!!

It’s our third episode without Ralph, but fear not his ghost permeates the podcast. What? I totally didn’t kill him, how many times do I have to say this? He will return in our hour of need, like Optimus Prime but without the robot bits, but right now we have another Stunt-Ralph.

We welcome friend of the podcast JiiDee, who I managed to pry away from the Back To The Eighties team for a few hours to talk about stopmotion animation and in particular Portland Bill, as well as finding out what fresh hell he plans on visiting upon the absent Ralph.

Stardub Episode 55 – The Phil-In Station

It’s another episode of Stardub and another Stunt-Ralph joins Andy in the ongoing mission to throw themselves onto the hand grenades of pop culture. Once more we havethe Silent Member on board and guess what he isn’t silent!

That’s right Philip Ayres, friend of the podcast joins us to natter about Doctor Who and specifically Destiny of the Daleks. Inexplicably Philip thinks this is a good story, Andy (and the not dead and buried under Andy’s patio Ralph) do not.

Will there be tears, shouting, exchanging of parcels of really bad DVD’s and comics? Listen on and find out.

Stardub Episode 56 - Comfortably (Nien) Numb!

It’s a new dawn in Stardub Central. The long-lost Ralph has returned from his odyssey into the wilderness, but is he a changed man? What stories does he have to share? None!

Why is that you ask. Simple – friend of the podcast and Stunt Ralph – Philip Ayres has managed to waylay Ralph with a parcel of gifts for him. Phil is a True Friend and Ralph’s reactions are priceless. No need to imagine them, for a video of them will follow soon after this.

Once we’ve gotten that out of the way, we turn our thoughts and taste buds to this year’s Transformers Easter Egg, which comes with a mug (much like this podcast) and how well it performs.

Following that we look at the seldom spoken Legend of Robin Hood produced by the BBC in the 1970′s. Now the BBC’s most recent Robin Hood wasn’t exactly good, will this unearthed gem surpass it?

Rounding out the episode is Andy’s thoughts on The Dark Judges from World Book Night 2013, a collection of material from 2000ad focusing on the Alien Superfiends from Judge Dredd.

Stardub - The True Friend Interlude 1 of 2

t’s been a little but quiet here in the Sinister Haunt of Science that is Stardub, but fret not we shall return.

Stardub Episode 58 – The Penis Is Evil

Welcome back to the Stardub podcast gentle listener. Ralph and Andy kick off the latest effort, with some handwringing about collecting as one of them attempts to justify buying the Titan Class Metroplex to their other half. They then move on to a most unconventional dramatic reading (the first of many) of the novelisation of ZARDOZ!

Andy shares with us the Battle of the Planets TV Comic Special from 1983 (harass him on twitter to scan and upload this rarity as it does have the first meeting between Zoltar and 7-Zark-7) and Ralph bitches about Alex Ross’s revival of BOTP and the pair lament about the loss of comic book specials in the UK.

We then move on to the legend that is Peter’s Pocket Grandpa from the last ever The Dandy Summer Special before reviewing an issue of the Beano and leaving you on an exciting cliffhanger…

Stardub Episode 59 – Zarbi and Moan

Episode 59 sees a lot of procrastinating from the team before they can work up the energy and the fortitude to brave Doctor Who – The Web Planet, so before they do that they spend time talking of happier times and happier things.

What things?

Well, the short-lived Havoc from Marvel UK, which brought Deathlok, Robocop, Ghost Rider, Conan and the Star Slammers to kids on a weekly basis. Can you tell it was released in the early 1990′s? From there we actually talk about Transfrormers, and in particular Transformers UK Issue 39, a personal favourite of Andy’s.

The team also talk about fuck-nuggets at conventions and why we miss some of the older ones. We weep that nobody still asks Simon Furman about colouring errors on the Transformers cartoon and we lay down the challenge for Auto Asssembly 2014 and we DEMAND our listeners join with us in preparing questions to Flint Dille on…FIVE FACES OF DARKNESS!

Stardub Episode 60 - Going In The Groin



Not a typo, not a misspelling, in this podcast one of our hosts reads an informative leaflet on how to inject drugs in your groin, courtesy of the other's real life job. Don't say we don't teach you anything here at Stardub Central.

In a vain attempt to raise the level of intellectual discourse we turn to a few issues of the Classics Illustrated series published by First Comics in the early 1990's. Naturally any conversation of comics somehow finds it's way to Shatter and Batman: Digital Justice and why they aren't available digitally. Then a nice wee rant about DC Comics. Hell, everyone else is doing it so lets' hop on the bandwagon.

Rounding off the podcast, finally Andy get's to inflict a Taste Challenge on Ralph as he introduces him to the world of CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZELS!!!
