AA 2009 is almost upon us, and thoughts already begin to turn to AA 2010. I am delighted to announce there will be a fiction special available at the event:
ESCAPE VELOCITIES
This A5 fanzine features tales set far in the future, delving into the interwined destinies of Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Perceptor and the survivors of the human race. It will feature fully revised and updated versions of the stories There but for the grace of..., The Escape, Haul of Dead Gods and 332. The original versions* previously featured as part of the online Fictionary series of tales. The fanzine will also feature brand new additional content expanding on this exciting and mysterious new corner of the Transformers universe such as a Galactic Map detailing the worlds featured, a historical overview, war reports from the frontlines of the Micromaster Wars and more. I hope to invite contributions for spot illustrations.
Look for it...August 2010!
-Ralph
*These will be taken down after August so the new versions can be prepared

Mark S came up with a cracking idea for the con as well.
A 22 page comic-book story with a different artist doing a different page. So scribblers stake your claim and let us know you are game. I have a provisional booking for a cover artist I can say no more yet....

Sounds like a great idea!
Though if you want a really easy life, just add another page to T-25 and call it T-26...

I can try doing proper pictures again, might be 'comic' like though, I really need to practice drawing again soon lol
If I find that I can still draw, I'll help lol

Provided I get enough time / notice & it's something I can actually draw - then count me in for a page.

I have a couple of ideas for articles if there's going to be something factual done as well as fiction.

Work has started on the Escape Velocities fiction special. Yes, this may seem somewhat early considering it's not due for 11 months but the aim is to get it in the can relatively early and have the print files ready so at least one thing is 'ready to go' and because other proposed stuff is likely to be more time-intensive. Yay.

I'm attending to a 5 pager for G this week, so I should be able to get cracking on the cover next week and then Matt's BBB. Always like to shift gears a bit between strips.

How much does this sort of printing cost? The idea of a fanzine type thing is really appealing

How much does this sort of printing cost? The idea of a fanzine type thing is really appealing It all depends Matt on what you are doing. The Scotcon and stuff for AA cost a wee bit cos I get professional chaps to print them for me (thanks G!) but I've also done a few a5 zines for when we travel down south (two for Cardiff and one for Newcastle) and they just cost me some printer inks and I abused the work photocopier on a quiet shift. Start with a lo-fi A5 and see how you go. If you want any pointers on dtp and pre-pressing then both myself and G should be able to answer any questions. Andy

Regarding the comic project mooted by Mark S and myself.
We have a concept and will be firming up the story over the coming weeks.
Set in 2011 and it concerns the fate of Autobot City: Mars which was established in 1997 and in 2011 gets destroyed. Going for something of a "base under siege" approach.
