The leaves are starting to turn, skies are rusty in the evening and there's a milky ring around the moon.
Autumn is here!

Got a knock-back from a job I have no recollection of applying for. Yayyyyyyyyy.
Still, there's always Wednesday. Tuesday will be busy with the obligatory prep.

Hmm. Shame the rain decided to come back on my morning off. And the partly broken sliding door on my wardrobe has decided to go the whole hog and collapse completely.
But never mind - I've had a pretty successful day by means of staying in actually. I have been able to finish the repairs on my cutlery drawer, and thereby reassemble my kitchen, dispose of a few things that have been sitting in a pile to go to a charity shop and watch a couple of hours of 'I, Claudius' amongst all the general pottering around. So actually it has been a reasonably successful day.

I'm learning to use my PINK (XD) graphics calculator and in the book of buttons it has this bloody help thing. A drawing of a calculator with arms. I don't know who designed him or thought he would be a good idea IT'S NOT
I'll give you a description, he's sitting in an armchair with what looks like 8 cans of beer next to him and he's shouting at thin air "MY CONTINGENCY TABLE - I FIND IT USEFUL IN ANY CONTINGENCY" oh my life, I almost died.

This morning I was in the garden. I returned to the house to find a card informing me that the dreaded Home delivery network had tried to deliver something. Surprisingly they had not transferred it to a run-down building next door to a crack dealer some 30 miles away, but left it with a neighbour. I popped round to pick it up and was promptly handed the item. Worried they might think I was some oddball who was hiding from the scary delivery person, I decided I should explain.
'Sorry, I was...watering'.
'erm... no problem'.
As I turn away I realise that this could be interpreted as toilet related, so turn to add 'tomatoes... in the greenhouse... with a watering can...' only to find the door shut. I then step out in to the rain and realise that even if the neighbour wasn't thinking I was giving out too much information, they may have thought I was some weirdo watering plants outside in the rain.
I try telling myself that neither of those possibilities may have occurred to them, when I recall the brief nervous laugh that proceeded their response.
Oh.

Did the test/interview for the NHS job this morning. Gave a pretty good account of myself. If that performance doesn't get me a job, nothing will. Won't get a result until late next week. Nothing moves quick in the NHS. It's already been 4 weeks since the closing date for applications.
Met up with a mate I hadn't seen for a long while for lunch, which was nice.

Well you did bloody good getting an interview, there are literally hundreds of applications for each job in the NHS at the moment.

It's a good job. It would be working 1-9pm Monday to Friday but I'm willing to compromise to get my foot in the door. Plus: there's a helipad outside. Anyway, best forget about it for a couple of weeks.

For anyone who ever thinks folk who do youtube videos slap them together in ten minutes, think again. It just took me over 4 hours to compile one 2-minute segment for one. I just played it back...and it looks like I slapped it together in 10 minutes. Bit of a headache now. Will make the rest of it another day methinks.

I know what you mean, Ralph. Usually vids work out better if you work in blocks of leaving them and coming back to them again, especially when it comes to working out pacing.

You get a few loons on youtube though. The first e-mail I read when back from AA was a comment posted on one of my vids which was: 'fuck you, get a life'.

Oh, Internet, the social boundaries you have trampled over!
In my 12 years of doing Transformers sites, I've had my fair share of weird/insulting/should really be forwarded to the CIA emails.
My favourite one was back in 2003 when I was announcing the TMU DVD an got an email saying "thanks for shitting on Europe" because I was initially only offering it to the UK.
