It's Monday once more and that means a new letter. This week we are on C and this is where things start to get a little bit interesting. Why? Because there are some old kids shows beginning with C that we shouldn't admit to watching ... like this one

Ah, C. The letter that brought us the Chuckle Brothers. The Chuckle Hounds, too, of course.
Then there is the second greatest series to have come from Cosgrove Hall, Count Duckula.
Seeing as Bagpuss was brought up, perhaps we should also mention The Clangers. We don't want too many 70s series, though, so best not mention Chigley or Camberwick Green.
And there's Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers and Charlie Chalk, of course. Everybody, now: Crackerjack!
(A late entry for B: Blackstar.)

I'd forgotten about Chucklevision and also Chucklehounds but I was going to mention Charlie Chalk and Count Duckula. Speaking of Cosgrove Hall here's a classic one from them
Also, can anybody name the other Cosgrove Hall show from the eighties that began with C that started off as a series of short stories on Rainbow?

Another classic from 1981 and a particular favourite of mine before I started school.

If that's your answer from the question I posed two days ago then you are correct.

Can anybody remember a programme from the mid 80's called Chish & Fips? It was a series about two garden gnomes who found themselves left behind when their owners moved house. Aided by a toy robot that had been thrown away they went off in search of their owners new house and found it in the final episode (how they did this I will never know) only to discover that their owners had brought two new garden gnomes for their garden.
There are no videos of the show on Youtube or even an entry about the show on Wikipedia but I have found one or two forums that have briefly discussed it. The book about kids TV shows that I have says that two series were made. The first one was in 1984 and introduced the aforementioned toy robot in the first episode (of four) and the second series was made in 1987 and told the story over eight episodes about their adventure of finding their owners new home.

There are a few shows I fondly remember watching as a youngster but precious little is mentioned about them on the net. Whether that is a good thing or not is debatable (some shows hold up better as just a memory than as a show that you re-watch as an adult).
Nigel mentioned Count Duckula a few days ago and I just had to put a video of it up but I've selected the ending intro to it because I believe thats the best version of the theme tune.

Doesn't ring a bell with me but there is a Wikipedia entry on it which I have read. Sounds like a programme I probably would have watched but didn't (or at least I don't remember watching it).

Much has been done about The Chronicles of Narnia over the years. There was a series in the sixties made of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, a cartoon made circa 1980 and the recent films but the best of the lot in my opinion is the BBC TV series from 1989. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckLxwpCXr9g

HMV has the boxset of all the BBC Chronicles of Narnia series for £6, well worth picking up, it is usually really expensive and hard to find.

I brought the boxset when it first came out. Excellent stuff it is too unlike the Hollywood remakes.

For the final day of this countdown through the letter C I thought I would bring you this. It's a short compilation from 1985 of Childrens ITV presenters.
There actually seems to be quite a bit on Youtube of CITV stuff that was made between programmes and some of it may bring back a few memories.

A bit late this week but still we are onto the letter D today. And we will start off with 'the greatest superhero in the world'!
Also, I've just remembered one we all forgotten for the letter C. How could we have forgotten the Centurions?

I forgot to mention Chocky. (oh and Alias the Jester for 'A' too...) As for D. I liked Dogtanian & The Muskerhounds.

I've got both Doctor Snuggles and Dogtanian on DVD. The latter I have both series and I have this word of advice for anybody thinking of purchasing the second series of Dogtanian - don't! The first series was excellent but the second is dire. I also have this show on DVD

Dinosaur cartoons were big in the late 80's and this one was probably the most popular TV series
but can anyone name the dino-cartoon from the late 80's where the characters were able to Dinovolve?

Dink The Little Dinosaur was pretty cool. A decent Land Before Time alternative that does'nt have a movie with endless sequels. Frank Welker's voice role as Crusty the Turtle was outstanding.
Also Dino Riders which I bough recemtley for £1.99 on DVD (all 13 eps) isn't too bad.

I did (honest). I was ... waiting for someone else to say it because I was being greedy with two suggestions already.
The toon adaption of Doctor Dolittle was also an 80's favourite. Oh yeah and Dennis too.
