Dennis was one of those shows that I couldn't stand but I loved the theme tune. I think I only watched it just to see the opening credits.
Anyway onto my pick of the day. I featured one Look and Read story amongst the 'B's and here's another one - Dark Towers - the first new L&R story of the 80's and one that I never actually watched back in the day but decided to watch just a few months ago via the wonders of the net. It's not exactly a great story but seeing Christopher Biggins trying to play a bad guy in it makes it definitely worth watching to a certain degree.
The clip above is actually the entire first episode of the story and not just the intro.

News of the recent Phantom reboot reminded me of Defenders of the Earth
Dappledown Farm with Brian Cant is another show that comes to mind.

Defenders of the Earth is another one I'd forgotten about even though I watched an episode of it recently on Youtube.
Does anybody remember the game show Double Dare? It wasn't an actual show as such (well, not in the UK anyway) but rather a game show that featured on the Saturday morning kids show Going Live.

I've ran out of 80's kids shows beginning with the letter D so I'll just post this one - a cartoon from the early 80's beginning with A that I missed when doing the A's in this thread. It's one I remember fondly but is only enjoyable these days by people who are into slapstick-type cartoons such Warner Brothers and Pink Panther type shows.

After a bit of hunting around on the net I found this kids show from 1985 called Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest. I don't remember it but the Wikipedia entry for it says that it has quite a sizable amount of fans. Can anybody else remember this one?

Because there aren't too many kids shows from the 80's beginning with E I have decided to make this week two letters so we have E - F and to start off we have a cartoon that fits in nicely (although that depends on your opinion) with Kirei's choice of cartoon above.
There are actually two different opening titles for this cartoon to be found on YouTube but the other one just sounds a bit on the weird side!

Kids TV also gave us Rod Hull and Emu in the 70's,80's and 90's. I won't bother posting a video of any of the shows because you probably won't want to watch it! Instead, here is just a chronological list of all of the Rod Hull and Emu shows to grace our TV throughout the 70's,80's and 90's.
1975 - 1980 Emu's Broadcasting Corporation (EBC 1) 1980 - 1982 Emu's Magical Music Show / Xmas Music Show / Easter Show 1982 - 1984 Emu's World 1983 Rod and Emu's Saturday Special 1984 The Rod and Emu Show 1984 - 1985 Emu's All Live Pink Windmill Show 1986 Emu's Pink Windmill Show 1987 Emu's Wide World 1988 Emu's World 1991 Rod 'n' Emu 1991 - 1993 Grotbags
You're probably going to sleep much better tonight now!

I loved the Ewoks cartoon, it is a shame it isn't properly available, apart from a few episodes in a hacked together 'movie' (seriously what is this, the 80s?)
I dont remember that theme at all, this is the one I remember (and I have the original episodes recorded off tv to prove it, thanks mum!)

That's the one that I thought sounded a bit weird. I watched a few episodes of Ewoks back in the day (even though I had never watched any of the Star Wars films) but can remember very little about the show.

Sorry, I'm skipping back a bit, but this post - Does anybody remember the game show Double Dare? It wasn't an actual show as such (well, not in the UK anyway) but rather a game show that featured on the Saturday morning kids show Going Live. - just reminded me of something: Duncan Dares. I always remember the one where he was inside the Tik-Tok costume for Return to Oz, which left me thinking for years that he had actually played him in the film. Here's Peter's website: www.heresoneimadeearlier.com/duncan-daresThat first Ewoks theme above is the one from the second season. I never liked it even back then, because the E-E-E-E-Ewoks one was great fun for six-year-old me to sing along to. I'm struggling to think of any E programmes at the moment, but here's an F: Fantastic Max, the cartoon adventures of a baby with his own rocket and robot. Some Fantastic Max trivia: whilst made by Hannah Barbera, it was actually Welsh, created by Mike Young of Superted fame; voice credits include Gregg Berger (I wish I'd known that before Auto Assembly), Frank Welker and The Simpson's Nancy Cartwright and Phil Hartman.

The name Duncan Dares rings a bell but thats about all. As for Fantastic Max thats another show that rings a bell. I think I'll have to check to see if there is anything on YouTube about the show because I watched a lot of Hanna Barbera programmes in the 80's.
Anyway, onto another Look and Read story (as you can tell I'm a bit of an L&R fan) and the first L&R story I ever watched at school. This is Fairground and like a number of L&R stories it features actors and actresses that you have probably seen somewhere before. This one features a pre-Keeping Up Appearances Judy Cornwell (aka Daisy - Onslow's wife).

Of course! Fraggle Rock. I'd been planning to mention that when we got to F. Having a double letter week must have thrown me off. Ah well, dance your cares away.

It's a little known fact that Fraggle Rock was the last show that former Porridge actor Fulton Mackay starred in. My choice for today is an early Saturday morning show that Cherly Baker used to try and recover the career of Buck Fizz. The show was Eggs 'n' Baker and was usually already on in our house by the time I got up to watch Going Live. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eggs_%27n%27_Baker

Back to the D's for a moment, and I can't believe I forgot it: The DreamStone!
Stuggling at the mo for E's and F's.

I was thinking of putting the Dreamstone in but it started in 1990 so therefore doesn't quite count. This one however does - but only just!

When Nigel mentioned the Fantastic Max cartoon earlier I knew I'd seen it before but I couldn't remember anything about it. That intro has jogged my memory and everything is coming back now!

A classic British cartoon from the 80's and probably one for the Scots crew here!

There are a few other British kids shows from the 80's beginning with F but they don't have Youtube entries. According to my book there was a how made between 1984 and 1987 called Fast Forward which was hosted by Floella Benjamin amongst others, a Jackanory type programme called Flicks which also ran between 1984 and 1987, a show hosted by Bill Oddie called Fax in 1986 and 1987 and a long running show called Freetime hosted by Mick Robertson which ran from 1980 to 1988.
Also in 1987 and sequel series was shown called Fat Tulip Too which came two years after Tales From Fat Tulips Garden. This was a show that starred Tony Robinson telling some pretty strange stories. This is the intro to the original series:
and this is the memorable closing credits to it too:

We don't want too many 70s series, though, so best not mention Chigley or Camberwick Green. They were made in the '60s actually. At least, Camberwick Green and Trumpton, which I enjoyed circa 1980, were made in the '60s. Thanks to a nostalgic impulse buy on my dad's part I am now working my way through those two on DVD. They have a lovely idyllic quality... those days that never existed when you could call out the fire brigade to get the mayor's hat out of a tree; when health & safety legislation allowed you to have the blades of a windmill whizzing across the front door; when everyone had their role in society, enjoyed their jobs and got along with each other; and when the bandstands in parks were in regular use. But they are also quite thoughtful - Windy Miller promoting the ethics of free-range eggs and being contrasted with the modern mechanical techniques of Farmer Jonathan Bell, for example. Also a few more adult themes that probably wouldn't make it into kids' shows today, such as Windy Miller's cider drinking. "Cider is very good, but makes you sleepy," the narrator explains. Yeah, yeah, off-topic, I know. Sorry. Martin

I think I remember that Dramarama show ... or least the intro anyway.
Anyway, this week we on to G and an obvious start to the letter
