The 80's were full of kids shows featuring robots and this one was no different.
I actually brought the first two series of this show on DVD a while back and have watched them only to discover that it was the least funniest programme I have ever seen in recent times. I guess that it was only funny if you were a kid because I used to enjoy watching back then.

Mighty Orbots was a huge inspiriation to the Development of TransFormers Animated. I think I had a toy of that big red'n'blue robot once. Other than that, no, I don't really remember it.

There's nothing wrong with liking the Muppet Babies. I used to get up on a Saturday morning just to watch it!

I was having a debate about Mr Benn with a former workmate a few months ago. We both agreed that the shopkeeper should have thrown Mr Benn out of the shop and barred him from ever coming back in. The reason? All Mr Been ever did was walk into the shop, grab one of the items of clothing that was being sold there and walk into the changing rooms to try it on. Mr Benn never brought anything from the shop and that would usually get a shopkeeper a little pissed off after just a few occasions. Mr Benn did it thirteen times!

Ah well, you see, the fourteenth time... that's the episode that they never showed, where the shopkeeper throws his ass to the kerb whilst screaming "FOURTEEN TIMES THIS BLOODY WEEK! COMING IN HERE WITH YOUR BOWLER HAT AND RUNNING ROUND THE SHOP PRETENDING TO BE A BLOODY INDIAN! GET OUT! oOOOOOOOOOUUUUUT!"
Fade to black...

Tony Robinson has starred in some classic TV shows over the years and this is one of them.

Tony Robinson? pah! I'll take Danny John-Jules any day over him. Bleeding endless Time Team repeats....
I seem to be very angsty this week. I apologise.

The BBC wasn't afraid to scare the kids back in the 80's as this series proves.

Does anybody remember the show Mike & Angelo? It started in about 1989 and was about a bloke who was presumably from space who lived on the ceiling of a boys bedroom. A crazy idea but then, considering it was written by the people behind T-Bag it doesn't really surprise me.
I remember it starting off quite well with somebody playing schoolboy Mike and a bloke called Tyler Butterworth playing Angelo but then it all started to get a bit silly. When Tyler Butterworth didn't want to do it anymore the writers ripped off Doctor Who by getting Angelo to regenerate into a new actor who wasn't very good. A little later they also wrote out the boy playing Mike and drafted in a new actor to play a totally different character called Mike who lived in the same house. After about two series it got unwatchable but it still carried on for a fair few more years until it was axed.

I remember that. I remember it being cringe-worthy from the start.

These days the name The Munch Bunch are just a brand of yogurt but in times gone by they were a series of books and also a TV series which I used to watch.

Shame that. The Munch Bunch themselves have been replaced by a goofy looking CG cow on the yoghurt brand.
I still have a lot of my old books at my folks house. Great read.
I also followed Mike and Angelo too. It eventually ended up with a girl named Mike at the end. Tyler Butterworth went on to narrate Teletubbies, Rita went on to play Barb Lahey in Trailer Park Boys, and there was a few other people who went on to do better on other things.

A few months ago I watched a documentary about a reunion of the cast and crew of the T-Bag show. Although it wasn't the best documentary I had ever seen (the reunion didn't actually happen until the last five minutes of the hour long programme) it did bring up something interesting about the shows writers. The writers were also responsible for Mike & Angelo and a restaurant show called Spatz and when Carlton TV won the London TV franchise off Thames in 1992 they only wanted one of the three shows to continue. The writers wanted T-Bag to continue because they had totally ran out of ideas for Mike & Angelo and Spatz but Carlton insisted they wanted Mike & Angelo to continue. Therefore Spatz was axed after its current series and T-Bag was also axed after two more series which had already gone into production but Mike & Angelo carried on despite the writers having exhausted their supply of ideas for the show. This would explain why the show became unwatchable after such a short while.

I saw that documentary too on some obscure Satellite channel. It felt like a student film, but it got really good as it picked up. I was surprised to see T-Shirt had'nt aged much and did'nt relise T-Bag had been in Emmerdale all this time.
Spatz was a terrible show. I can also see why Mike & Angelo went stale over time, especially most of the episodes were cooped up inside the house all the time. T-Bag was the opposite and explored everywhere possible.

I used to love the T Bag shows but they were far too pantomime based and I watched an episode of one on Youtube a while back and cringed! As for the Mike & Angelo and Spatz I watched the first two or three series of M&A before it got too silly and stopped watching, Spatz was one that I never watched because I had a complete disliking for restaurant / cafe / cooking shows.

The thought of a burger being called a Spatz burger was offputting. I can still remember the tap-dance jingle of the show. Best show on CITV was Harry's Mad , but that was'nt till the 90's. ===KEN

I think I mentioned earlier that I quite like Harry's Mad. The talking parrot (Madison I think his name was) was a classic character and was the only one in the show that really stole the show.

Every Saturday morning I used to get up early and flick on BBC 1 for the best kids shows at the time. On occasion however I did watch ITV and bumped into stuff like this.

Here's a programme I vaguely remember watching but its country of origin and first broadcast dates are a mystery to me.
According to my book it was a UK show hosted by Michaela Strachan that aired between 1989 and 1993 but the net says that it was a Canadian show that aired between 1985 and 1994. I'm guessing that it was a Canadian show that was localised when it eventually hit this country. Anyway, the theme song is sung by the voice actress that voiced Penny in Inspector Gadget.
