Near-constant howling wind outside complimented by occasional sounds of lashing rain. Not a good evening to be outside.

That was the same at Turnbull Towers. Today the rain has gone. The wind hasn't though.

We had similar weather here, but with hailstones.
And no, it is not fun being bald when there's a sudden hailstorm and you're out walking the dog in the evening.

Well, two hours after I posted that all was calm the storm descended with a vengeance. The rain was running off the buildings in that solid-sheet style it sometimes does and the roofs were rattling like a bone Xylophone.
It's played absolute hop with public transport today - but fortunately I was not in the part of Falkirk that lost electricity overnight. (It would not have been pleasing to rise and discover I couldn't make myself an Orange, Mango and Cinammon tea in the morning).

It was mayhem last night. I love being snug in my bed and listening to a raging storm outside, and I know I'm safe as I don't have a roof to blow off and am in a relatively sheltered area. I imagine it's much different in other contexts. But I bloody love storms. I go outside when there is a storm. If I had been born in the US I would be one of those mad stormchaser folk.
Weather warning out for tonight. Calm so far.

The wind has died down again after raging last night but by my reckoning it's been pissing it down for damn near ten hours.

Today has been: Dark and clear. Dark with battering sleet (as I was running for the bus, natch) Glorious sunshine. Heavy rain. Heavy snow. Back to sunshine. Hail. Sun. Rain. More rain.
And it's pretty much been rain ever since. Egad, Brain.

Bastard weather!
Yesterday it was blizzard-level snow from when i left the house till i got to the station. It was that kind of 'freezing your forehead' weather that aggravates enormously. I was completely covered in snow. Then i got on the train and it was lovely weather!
THEN this morning i caught another 5 minute rainstorm en route to the train.
Bastard weather!

There is a lake in Queen's Park in Glasgow where yesterday there was a path and a flower bed. It's still bloody raining and the wind hasn't stopped.

It has been raining in Falkirk since 6pm yesterday evening, and it seems like there is no sign of it running out of rain any time soon.
The whole transport network seems to have fallen apart as a result of the weather - after waiting half an hour for a train this morning I changed stations, and still took nearly twice as long as it should have done to reach Edinburgh. By this evening the train journey back to Falkirk took about an hour and ten minutes instead of thirty five minutes.
If I didn't need to go into town for a couple of things urgently tomorrow I would plan to stay inside all day. Not sure what I am going to do for footwear though - one pair of shoes is already so soaked it will take till about Tuesday to dry out, leaving me with only one backup pair...

I was out with some coursemates for a few drinks in Glasgow city centre but made the fatal mistake of forgetting that Friday night at 11.31pm in a 'major' UK city means it's too late for the subway, which shuts at 11.30pm (yes, really). You can't get a taxi at that time, the trains are finished and buses are few and far between and frankly not safe to travel on at that time of night anyway. Thus began the hour long walk home.
In a ****ing storm.
Damn you, Glasgow City Council and your 'integrated public transport system'.

Damn you, Glasgow City Council and your 'integrated public transport system'. -Ralph Oh it is integrated alright. It works together perfectly to make it next to impossible to get anywhere by mid-evening. They've got the "integrated " and "system" down pat. It is the "public" and "transport" part that appears to escape them. Karl

In Dunfermline it's bitterly cold and the minute the sun disappears it rains. The wind howls and the rain falls at a 45 degree angle.
Glad I am indoors and not going out tomorrow.

I walked to Uni through a hailstorm as it grew dark as night. It was like the end of the world.
Naturally, just as I got to Uni, the weather suddenly cleared and there were blue skies. I shook my fist at the world.

As far as I could tell it only stopped raining to snow today. The wind was so strong it took us (well, me and a young lady not known for her high momentum) three attempts to open the door to get out of the building on the way out. Not amused.

Well, I'd say that this qualifies as "Time Wars" weather in terms of the transport disruption. We had the Forth Road Bridge closed to all traffic this morning - apparently locking down a lot of the traffic in South Queensferry. By this evening the train services were, whilst still running, knocked all-a-kilter. I got on a train at six pm, and didn't get back to Falkirk until about seven/seven-ten pm. Not bad for a twenty-minute journey.
The wind has been howling all day - it really only dropped about eight o'clock this evening and most of the day it has been snowing fairly heavily. (I don't actually mind the snow to be honest. In fact I was more than a little miffed that it wasn't actually lying. I did nip out of the office for a couple of minutes to stand in the snow this afternoon though. It was great, came back inside feeling much more chipper than I had done). Sadly it then turned to driving rain for the rest of the late-afternoon/early evening.
Looks like someone has lobbed Cyclonus' collective parts into the swirly thing though, as it seems to have settled down now.

Terrible wind last night, and I'm not talking about my bottom. Or Piglet's. Or Mrs Shockprowls.
Sun-glass on this AM on way to work!
Fearing warnings of snow. Both proffessionaly and getting-home-again-aly. Piglet'll love it though!
