Fantastic. That is a fair haul for the spotters. I went back to work after my two weeks annual leave. It was much as I anticipated, large drifts of work had accumulated on my desk in my absence and I ended up staying in the office until just before six this evening. With the promise of more in that vein to come this week unfortunately. I find myself extremely tired this evening. Ah well, at least I know that the mild cloud of depression that I have struggled with over the last three or four days was not entirely unfounded. Karl

Hard not to get a bit cheered up by the sight of something so majestic.

Yes, indeed! Maybe we should have a NASA images thread to cure all ills.
I must say, most planets discovered around other stars so far make Cybertron seem pretty small, don't they?

Very much so!
The space lurgy I thought had lifted came back last night with a vengeance. I think spending time in the cold yesterday in a paper-thin suit did not help.
I must look at more NASA images.

Amazing images. I never tire of looking at images from the cosmos.
Had a few ales with my brother and my chumb last night. Slightly groggy this morning, but I'm hanging in there.

I have just learned that Sesame Street has a youtube channel. Such joy. I defy anyone to watch this and not feel, well, better:

I've had a great time getting to know Chloe better today. And when I mean Chloe, I am reffering to the Canon SLR camera I've had loaned out to me from Uni.
The Uni equip loans dept have instead given the cameras (well the stills anyway) girls names rather than numbers. I got given Chloe complete with half charged battery and memory card to take home.
Chloe the Canon SLR is indeed a great camera and is incredibly sharp. I'm going to have a blast tomorrow taking more pics and seeing how I get on.

I love ducks. I find them very relaxing creatures to look at and could never abide eating one. I also love ducks and find them very relaxing creatures to look at and even more, listen to. For most of my life I have not wanted to eat them or any animals that I had an affection for - such as rabbits or deer. Preferred to eat animals that I found less interesting, such as chickens, fish, pigs, cows, sheep. But in recent years I've found myself moving towards preferring to eat things based on how they were raised and/or how big an impact their rearing has on the environment. So I have started eating venison (deer being far less flatulent than cows) and Freedom Food duck, and I will hardly ever go for chicken meals now unless I know they're free-range. Or intensively reared pork. Must try to cut down on beef now, since cows emit vast quantities of methane which is a whopper of a greenhouse gas. Sorry, ducks! Martin

Ironically, beef is the most likely to give humans flatulence as it's the hardest to digest. So double the methane!

Went running today in the woods, messy and wet. Meeting at work today. Currently in 30 day consultation period as we are at risk of redundancy. I'm the rep for my area of the business. I can certainly think of better ways to spend my evening.
Shame on Morrisons selling mince pies but my local Asda has been selling advent calendars and selection boxes for the last month.

Hurglefargleghaa... just back from second day trip to London in under a week (hence my post in the thread above at 5.25 this morning). But I have tomorrow off, and I'm not travelling further than Bristol again until ScotCon. And walking home, I saw a sign for THIS this weekend, being held just five minutes walk from my front door. That's a couple of hours of my Saturday taken care of. Martin

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw I love doggies so much, getting them all excited where they do that biting thing then tackling them. I'd like another rabbit, but not as much as a pet pig a lovely, grunting, inquisitive, pink wibbly piggy Still haven't had a reply about my degree I want to apply for its not till next year but I really want to do this and get in!

I have today and tomorrow off work, so I'm visiting my parents for an extra long weekend! I also took a half-finished comic I'm colouring from a friend on a memorystick to finish off. However the file corrupted last night, so that's out of the window! The moral is - make backups of your work!

This evening I actually managed to get out of the office earlier than any other day this week - only a half-hour after we closed instead of a full hour.
Unfortunately after doing some necessary shopping I still wasn't home until nearly seven this evening. Ah well. It is nearly friday, and we close earlier. Not that I will be getting out at closing time. I may as well stay back and potterer about with some needful, but lower priority things, as tomorrow I have my first dentist appointment in 11 years (which is how long it has taken me to source a new NHS dentist after losing my last registration). Not entirely looking forward to it, I am somewhat out of practice with dentists....
