Hi ladies,
I've been a user of The Hub forums for a long while now, I think I joined in 2001... All of the main figures seem to go to Auto Assembly, so maybe 2010 is the time for me to make an appearance?
Last time I went to a convention type thing was the World of Amiga show in 1994 or something, so another one has a lot to live up to.
Give me reasons why I should come, other than to meet Ralph and discuss how awesome Longtooth is and get into fisticuffs over my opinions on Actionmasters. Which is that they suck. And you know they do.
The only problem I can think of is that APAT normally host the Amateur Poker World Championships mid to late August, and I'm sorry, but that will take precedence. But that's normally the bank holiday weekend IIRC.

Reason #2 - I will twist at least one of your nipples until you bark my name. Choice of nipple will be at my discretion.

Having been to a few conventions now I can honestly say it was the best con experience I have had, and bear in mind I was up early setting up and manning the av desk to boot. Absolutely fantastic, good lively and warm atmosphere.
Plus you can sit and watch me and Marc Graham have a debate when both of us have been drinking. It is great entertainment.

but if you have other plans like...

AA09 was excellent and I expect next years convention to be at least just as good.

Ask SImon Furman on his views of the ongoing Transformers series & wether he has any input? Or never doing any non Movie stuff from now on.

You're never going to get him saying anything negative, no pro would do that unless their name is Dwayne McDuffie or John Byrne

I want Shame McCarthy to come to next years convention so we can all ask him why AHM was so dire!

I take it you missed his swipe at Dreamwave in the script reading this year then?! lol And yes, Simon's writing another script for us again this year for the Saturday night and we're working on plans to make the evening bigger and better with loads more going on before Next Of Kin play the night out into the small hours of Sunday...!!

But Simon wasn't there in person & the script wasn't being recorded & broadcast on the web or quoted with Simon's views of DW.
I've booked the hotel - just 13 minutes walk away. £49.99 for 2 nights full breakfast. Hope the others that saw round at Paragon also return cos it is a nice hotel.
Going to book my weekend ticket in 4 months time - still have then for £45 [hope dont sell out before 28/2/10]

Well this year you missed... Nick D's stall being the only one with anything worth getting on So what about that big wodge of Action Force comics you bought from a certain other stall? Hmm? Hmm? Let's see, reasons to go to Auto Assembly 2010? It's a weekend dedicated to Transformers, which you like. Because it's there. Because you can. Because this year's was the best AA so far (and I've been to all but the first one so can compare) and yet there were still things that the organisers have recognised can be improved upon. Because you can meet us all (which is a good thing, honest). Because you can treat yourself to something nice that you probably wouldn't otherwise buy. Because it's something different to do. Because it's fun.

Believe me, we do have a LOT of things that we need to change, improve and alter for 2010 and we are working on them like crazy and I've got a pretty big team in place to make it happen - the biggest committee I have had working on any event / convention for 21 years so I think we're going to make Auto Assembly 2010 pretty mindblowing. As for the script reading... we DO have the whole thing on film! We put a video camera ban on the Saturday evening because:- 1. We were filming the whole evening ourselves for our DVD release 2. As the evening was exclusive for weekend attendees, we didn't want any footage getting up online so one-day attendees would be able to see part of the convention that they wouldn't have been able to get access to We will be putting excerpts from the script reading up on our Youtube channel before Christmas - www.youtube.com/autoassembly - and hopefully we will have the DVD out next year. Right now, we have about 20 hours of footage to go through and decide what we will use - all the guest talks, the quizzes, workshops, Next Of Kin's concert (including Ian Corlett's performance on drums), the auction, cosplay, displays, the script reading and so much that it won't all fit onto a single disc so we may end up having to either release a highlights disc or a multiple disc set at this rate!

Auto Assembly the Movie perhaps? lol My only real issues this year were the queues at the start of the day (not that much of a bother to me anyway), my accomodation (teaches me not to leave booking a hotel til the month before though, doesn't it?) and how much I spent (again, my own issue lol) otherwise I thought it was a great convention

OK.
See, my worry is that I'll turn up. Browse some stalls for an hour, not buy anything because I have everything I want already, then go and stand in a queue for 8 hours to get my Primal signed and then do nothing else until we meet for drinks in the hotel.
What sort of things are the programmed events other than comic/custom workshops (that don't really interest me) and the live script reading?

The best part of it was yammering with everyone on the hub! I barely bought anything (well, okay I bought a lot) or went to signings/panels, and I had an absolute fab time, and made loads of friends out of it too!

Well there will be a congregation point at the TMUK/TOY-FU/MIXING DESK area, which is where we ended up spinning out from and returning to. Definitely was the social aspect that made AA this year. Oh and you didn't have to leave to get drinks, you just popped into the room next door.

I'm really looking forward to the DVD release. Just thinking about the con puts a big ol' smile on my face, so to see things like the script reading, or Greg Berger's multiple on-stage appearances, will just be awesome.
