I've hived the Rogue One discussion off to it's own thread. I'll bring it back in to the main thread after the film is out.

Received Rebels - Season One as a present and although I've only watched the first few episodes, I'm liking it so far. A lot of fun and with a likeable cast, I'm interested in seeing where the show goes - although there's a surprise later in the season I already know about due to coverage on websites after the episode aired (plus trailers for the following season).

It's brilliant. Well worth the time spent watching. Having watched the season now, I'd have to agree. Focussing on a small crew works well and surprisingly so did keeping things on and around the one place. There's a Firefly-like feel to the show which works brilliantly. The Inquisitor took a while to re-appear after the first story, but I thought there were some good villains... I didn't actually realise Tarkin was in the show, though it makes sense, so that was a pleasant surprise I'll definitely be picking up Season 2.

Season 2 is mostly an improvement. I found season 1 good but at times a bit too simplistic at times. It probably didnt help that I watched it right after watching the last few seasons of Clone Wars which had gotten all epic.

I actually preferred Season 1 of Rebels to the last Season of Clone Wars. Not that I didn't like the last season of Clone Wars - indeed, it was an impressive exhibition of how far CW had come as a show. But what I really liked about Rebels was the fact that the core cast were...muddling through somewhat. There was a level of "more by luck than judgement" to their achievements which I found rather endearing.
Also, I loved the use of all the stuff from the Ralph McQuarrie paintings in the show - giving us the idea that the McQuarrie aesthetic represents a sort of transitional stage from Republic-Deco to Imperial-Brutalist design. Nice idea, and a lovely little homage.
Not seen S2 yet - it being on Disney XD means I won't have access to it for a little while, till I can get the DVD on rental.

I saw a few episodes of Rebels but the child character irritated me immensely and I really did not like how people's faces were drawn at all.

Anyone interested in seeing panels from Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 can see them on the Star Wars youtube channel which is both unexpected and a nice thing to do. Ignore the viewer comments which are mostly stupid people screaming that it isn't "the trailer SHOW USS WHERE IS TRAILER WANNNT ITTTT".

How many SW canons are we now anyway?

Seems to be ripped straight from Zahn's books though. Studying the art of a species to know how to the beat them.

Well sort of. This is new canon Thrawn so a different guy with the same name. How many SW canons are we now anyway? -Ralph For simplicity I say three; Lucas, Legends, Disneyverse. Technically though that is cobblers as the stuff branded "Legends" includes stuff that (pre-Disney) was branded out-of-continuity and is clearly incompatible with the rest. At the end (and ignoring stuff like Infinities) the old EU was supposed to be all the same universe despite some contradictions, but it seems no one was particularly bothered about making things fit in the old days. So before the "yeah it's all one universe, honest" approach there were books doing their own thing, comics, newspaper strips, the cartoons! I think there were some childrens books pre-Empire that took place years after the first film that didn't fit with anything. Then there's the 90's stuff that fit together, but ignored stuff from the previous decade. Splinter of the Mind's Eye was envisioned as a low-budget sequel to Star Wars and that's always felt like an alternate universe. Hmmm, I might try and work it out... but I might go insane. Let's just say the answer to the "How many SW canons are there?" question is "chuffin' loads".
