My first go at naming a week I think.
So far not a good start, my boss who I car share with let me know 5 mins before the train left that he wasn't coming in today due to illness so I've got to wait till 8:40 for the next train.

Oh crikey. Tweezers are what my mum always used, but it would probably be best to go to the hospital.

That's what I thought but Liz ....
We're in Kingston at the mo, and I ran into ex girlfriend #1 who's a former casualty nurse. She's got some prescription only cream for drawing things out of wounds (sounds similar to Lions ointment) which she's dropping off later.
Don't see her for 5 years and then 3 times in 2 months !

I would take him to hospital to be sure. They may just have you waiting around for ages before a nurse just pulls something out with a tweezer, but you want to be sure it is all out, and especially at such a young age, you probably want to get a professional to look at it.
I managed to step on sharp stuff when I was very little, and my parents took me to the hospital. They didn't have to do much, but it was worth it for the peace of mind. Also it made me think twice about stepping on stuff again, because of all the fuss!
In the mean time, I'd imagine warm water and tweezers are your best way forwards

Proper move in tomorrow so it will be radio silence for a couple of weeks until I get broadband in. Nooooooooooooooooooo.

it turns out the best way to get glass out of a toddler's foot is under a general anasthetic. So that's what's happening tomorrow morning. All prayer appreciated !

I had a terrible shock about half an hour ago. This morning I visited one of those dodgy net sites that I sometimes do out of boredom and clicked on what claimed was a video link. It turned out that it was an file for an anti-virus program which quickly downloaded onto my computer. I thought nothing else of it until half an hour ago when I turned on my computer again and my computer refused to open up the desktop screen due to that anti virus program kicking in. A screen came up saying that the software was out of date and the newer version needed to be brought. I assumed that if I didn't buy it I wouldn't be able to use my computer again because I couldn't get to my desktop. Fortunately, as it turned out the program wouldn't accept any credit card details (phony or otherwise) to buy the program and, after going into the settings of this very suspicious anti virus program it allowed me to start up my computer unprotected from its anti virus protection. With my desktop now on screen I quickly rushed over to the Add/Remove programs and waved it goodbye!

Gotcha covered Phil.
To the surprise of no-one, I didn't get the job in Edinburgh. Calling the chap tomorrow for feedback before heading out to Clydebank to help Ralph start moving his stuff to the new flat. I suspect we will need a pallet jack for all the Marvel Essentials.

Boooooooo to that lot.
Have no worries, Nick. We're not moving *everything*. That would need a van. Just enough to make the place feel homely until the rest follows in a van the other side of New Year, probably.

So what will be going with you initially? I assume Blot (and maybe even Longtooth) is on the shortlist but any Shame McCarthy TF comics you may still have won't be!

Essential stuff like clothing, etc. And a smattering of books and figures so it doesn't feel like I live in someone else's box.
I own no issues of AHM.

Phil, I shall keep my fingers crossed for Johnathan.
Ralph - hope all goes well with the move. Sorry I'm not able to be around to assist but I am sure it will go fine.
I discovered this weekend that I am going to have to get an engineer out to service my oven, due to issues with it potentially catching fire when the grill is used according to a letter from the manufacturer. So another half day of my holiday allowance will likely be spent sitting around the house waiting for a tradesman to show up. Lovely.

I hope all goes smoothly with the glass from foot removal tomorrow!
And I also hope Ralph's move goes as smoothly as these things can. And yes, boo to Virgin not allowing such mobile updates. I tried that with LJ mobile updates only to find it's a no-go.

Why do utility companies make it so hard to move? 3 hours on the phone last night trying to sort stuff. An hour so far today.
I especially enjoy it when power companies who supplied power to the address can't find it.
