Midnight tonight marks a special occasion for me. It was at that time last week that that I gave up smoking. I thought giving up would be quite hard because I had been smoking since I was 16 and recently I was getting through over 20 a day. With no job at the moment and Christmas presents to buy I realised that the habit was taking up too much of my money so I gave up. I was helped though by the use of these E Cigarettes that are doing the rounds at the moment although not by much. I started on the E Cigarette on Wednesday morning but by Thursday afternoon it broke (the atomisers within them are the backbone of the device but are also the least reliable part of them) so up until this morning I had no smoking device of any kind or any real fags either. I got two new atomisers through the post this morning and am using them but I doubt I'll really need them as I went for four and a half days without the use of such a device.

Good man, well done.
Here I find myself deserted by family (hurrah) but with lots of little jobs presenting themselves to prevent me from tackling reviewing more of Sixbuilder...

I've just had a complete stranger insult me on Facebook. I regularly play this disc rolling game on there called Farkle against other players across the world. Every single one of them up until today have been polite and have spoken to me in the in-game chat window with the respect you should have for a complete stranger but that all came to a head today. I played against one player about twenty minutes ago who, within the first thirty seconds posted three insults directed at me for no reason. After I failed to respond to this unnecessary criticism he then posted another message which read 'do you suck kok??' About another two more minutes passed and he posted two or three messages of unpronounceable words before repeatedly telling me to 'fuck off'. By this point I was beating him in the game and before I could win the game he quit thus handing me the victory!
Its just as well (for him anyway) that I don't know his full name (the game only displays your opponents first name) otherwise I would have reported him to Facebook.

Induction at work continues.
Now entering Skint Month where other than the Chrimbo work night out this Friday* I will be mostly staying in when not working as I just dont have the money for too much crazyness until I get paid. But that doesn't bother me at all for it is short term pain for long term gain. Other than the headache of trying to set up a council tax account (still an ongoing issue) the move has gone well so far so I have a nice place to stay, some books, DVD's and unopened TF's from AA09 to play about with not to mention having a new city to explore on my days off. I hope to get library membership sorted out on Saturday too. So being skint in this case is not in any way a hardship. It really isn't.
In other news, I have found the new crack: Aunt Bessie's Roast Potatoes. £1 for a big bag in Farmfoods. Bung them in the oven for half an hour and they taste home made. Goes with anything. Yummy!
-Ralph *Which I really can't afford but is too good an opportunity to get to know people when new in a place

Last week I brought an E Cigarette from Amazon (as I've already mentioned) and although within a day it was successful in doing its job it is actually unreliable. The device is made up of three different components - the battery, the atomiser and the flavoured tip and unfortunately none of them are all that good. The battery wears down within a day, the atomiser has an average life span of three weeks (mine only lasted a day before I had to go online and purchase a new one) and the flavour tip only lasts for about ten cigarettes worth of smokes (despite the company claiming that they last for 20). Anyway, after my atomiser broke I wrote a report on Amazon about its unreliability and within a day I got an email from the person selling them on Amazon asking me to remove the comment if he gave me a new battery and atomiser. I agreed to remove the comment and am awaiting the 'free gift' but I'm not too happy about it. The seller obviously wants to sell his product which has been commented many times on the net over its unreliability but he doesn't want a single negative comment on the page where he is trying to sell it and is willing to give stuff away just to avoid things like that.

More madness from the parallel universe known as Facebook today! One of the most popular games on Facebook - Mafia Wars now won't work for almost everybody because its makers have tweaked with the game and it will no longer work unless third party cookies are switched on in the players internet browser. The Mafia Wars forums are awash with infuriated players who are disgusted by this new 'feature'.
Also, somebody on my friend list called me up on the Live Chat today for the first time. She asked me if I was doing well, then she asked me if my sister was doing well (she went to school with my sister), then she asked me if my father was doing well .... then she removed me as a friend!

Well, I haven't lost power so far but my Internet connection did keel over and die yesterday evening, just when I was partway through my Masterforce review as well. I jiggered around with it a bit but decided eventually that it wasn't my end so there was little I could do about it. I therefore just switched off the laptop and got on with some reading instead.

My internet connection also died last night but I eventually got it working again after just over half an hour. The last time the same thing happened we phoned up Virgin Media and they told us to switch off the modem and the wireless adaptor for about a minute then switch it back on before restarting the computer. I did that and it eventually worked.

For all you admirers of intoxicating beverages, a brewery by the name of BrewDog has created a beer called Tactical Nuclear Penguin with an alcohol-by-volume level of 32%: www.brewdog.com/blog-article.php?id=214 |<o>|

That beer might appeal to todays youth but not me. If a beer doesn't taste too good I drop it quickly whether its strong or not. Some people however think that the stronger the beer the better it is and its those kind of people I give a wide berth.

Couldn't give a toss about the alcohol content, but that name is a winner!
Talking of alcohol, it's the work Chrimbo night out tomorrow and I am rather nervous about it. Not because I am extremely new and don't actually start doing things properly until Tuesday, but because I don't like 'official' work night outs and stopped going to them several years ago for various personal reasons. But as I am new I think it's worthwhile to go to one to show good spirit and all that. My new colleagues are nice people but I remain anxious nonetheless especially as it looks a bit posh for my tastes. I will be sticking to soft drinks (not difficult, as I need to watch every penny) and can hopefully make a strategic withdrawal a decent interval after dinner but I really don't want to offend anyone. Some channeling would be appreciated.

Some channeling would be appreciated. -Ralph Some channeling would be appreciated. -Ralph And shall duly be provided. If they are a good bunch then it will probably be alright though. I've got a Christmas lunch with my team coming up in a few weeks, but I am not going to the organisation wide Christmas lunch or the night away in a hotel (assuming that is even happening this year. Hard to tell, as I never go to it folk have stopped telling me about it the last few years). In other news, the last two days have brought the first "we are sorry but you have been unsuccessful in selection for interviews" of my current campaign of job applications. I was fully anticipating that I would be greated with either a stony silence or a slew of these sorts of responses. Ah well, I can always hope to be in a new job by _next _ Christmas. Karl
