I wasn't too keen on AND THE ARK IN SPACE. Bit too grisly and lacks the sense of wonder the TV serial has.

I have seen them in Waterstones. They look lovely. Proper hardbacks with dust jackets and they replicate the original publications. I must have them. Maybe after payday...

I'm very glad to hear they've been done properly. I think I need these.

Oops. I got interested in the 'what next?' after watching Remembrance again and appear to have won a new copy of War of the Daleks for a couple of quid on eBay. Which I guess means I have to read it now. I thought they went for more than that, I wasnt expecting to win it.

Is War the first or second John Peel EDA?

War of the Daleks is a decent read up to a certain point in the book.
When said point happens, the book falls off a cliff.

Is War the first or second John Peel EDA? First. The second was Legacy, which I didn't like

I quite enjoyed War
That point Andu mentions is when it claims Skaro wasn't destroyed in DW isn't it?
Peel's second book, Legacy of the Daleks, is just one long river of Fanwank pish.

Ooh, useful.
I'm very tempted to buy the new audio book of Day of the Daleks for nostalgia's sake. One of the first target books I had.

That whole period where the target audios were a fiver a pop really soured me on the actual price releases!!

Looked very nice.

Reading War of the Daleks then, about a third through. Bit pedestrian in his writing is Mr Peel.

Yet his Targets were hailed when they came out.
War is also his better BBC effort. If I talk about Legacy of the Daleks I'll get angry and start swearing again

Adapting a story and creating one are two wildly different disciplines.
I'd argue I enjoy Terrance Dicks' Target books far more than his original prose.

Didn't he do some Titan/Pocket Trek novels too?
