Here's something scary.
Gary Russell told me (I believe I was having a go at him for being awful in my more boisterous youthful days) that Divided Loyalties was actually the top seller of the Who book range that year!

I believe it was, as it was one of tge few that got a 2nd printing. Doesn't matter how many it sells, it's still shit.

Top BBC Books seller of all. It was TV advertised as part of a 'you can buy all this stuff' promo BBC2 ran after repeats. -Ralph

Bad or Divided Loyalties Bad? Andy Just bad at the moment. -Ralph ...then takes a detour into Divided Loyalities bad in the last third. Naturally, there is of course another Acacemy chum of the Doctor in this book btw. And I never, ever, ever needed to have any allusions made to Mel losing her virginity! -Ralph

Has anyone read Dr Who books published by Target look to be 1970 and maybe 1980s? I saw some a few days ago and wondered if they were worth adding to my stack to read.

Yes, they're novelisations of the TV stories. Some are very good, others not so....

I saw the Target reprints in Blackwells. Quite a large number of them, to my surprise! And 3 for 2! I shall grab them the other side of payday. They look very well done: clearly some love has been lavished on them.
Shiny logos, nice paper/card stock, the proper typefaces and each has an intro and a feature about the book.

At 3-2 that beats Amazon. Good show.
I already have alln 6 of these but might buy them to support the project. The more classic Who in print, the better.
What would you do next ?
Hartnell: Unearthly Child, Web Planet Troughton: Ice Warriors & Web of Fear Pertwee: Doomsday Weapon/Daemons/Day of the Daleks (3c2) Baker: Robot & Genesis of the Daleks

I'd want ones for each Doctor. Preference given to novels that are good (or better than the tv versions), and perhaps harder to find. I'd do:
Hartnell: Myth Makers, Daleks Masterplan Troughton: Fury from the Deep, Space Pirates Pertwee: Sea Devils, Curse of Peladon T Baker: Brain of Morbius, Warrior's Gate Davison: The Visitation, Warriors of the Deep C Baker: Twin Dilemma, maybe Nightmare Fair? McCoy: Paradise Towers, Happiness Patrol. Most of his novelisations are cracking reads actually.

Stopped off at Waterstones and picked up Doctor Who and the Daleks, Doctor Who and the Cybermen and Doctor Who and the Abominable Snowmen
And the Cybermen is as workmanlike as I remember, but holy crap, And The Daleks is brilliant! I'm really really impressed by it. I own the Target version from years back, but I don't think I ever actually sat down to read it properly before.
