The quest continues... Time and the Rani finally added to the collection, along with another Silver Nemesis to replace a substandard copy. Taken ages to get Time at a decent price but it's great to see all the McCoy stories lined up. Just Evil to go for a full set of TV stories. I thought I'd have that by now but I keep forgetting when auctions finish.

I'm reading Turlough and the Earthlink Dilemma but am getting annoyed by Tony Attwood's need to make every character and place name completely unpronounceable. Oh I see. I see what you did, Mr Attwood. That took far too long to click. His unpronounceable character and place names are all anagrams and words spelt backwards. The original Clan leaders Ykstort I and Nilatis IV? The big nasty who usurps the clan rule and causes Turlough to be exiled to Earth? Rehctaht. Amazing how some provinces of Trion are called Noved and Nodevelc. Oh good lord. I was really enjoying this story, but that's put me on edge for any new places or characters that turn up.

And now... a very nice, pretty much minty new copy of Paradise of Death added to the Target shelf.
Nearly there. Two to go.

Now only Harry Sullivan's War stands between me and a complete collection of Target Doctor Who Novels.

Yeah. No thanks.
I will probably have to plug the gaps on my Target non-fiction Who shelf though. Every Target Who book would be a nice collection.

Flippin heck. Earthlink Dilemma started so well, the first third is spot on mid-80s teenage aimed hard SF. But my word does it go off the rails. What a load of nonsense. The last third just feels like the writer is making it up randomly as he goes along because he doesn't know how to end the story. I think the biggest problem though is that Turlough is absolutely nothing like Turlough. Nothing in the story rings true to his character.
I'm sure Ian Marter has done better with Harry.

I bought the new series programme guide on a whim, just to put it with the others. It's a few years old so it only goes to the end of Matt Smith's run, but it's such a good homage to the Lofficer ones. Identical. There's something nice about having a paperback sized episode guide to hand. I hope when Jodie's done the author does an update. I've realised looking at this that there are whole chunks of nu who I've forgotten.

I am, and also a bit dismayed. It's without a doubt the best freebie they've ever done - a brilliant idea and absolutely lovely to have. A genuine piece of missing Who paraphernalia done to the right size and style of the originals. Perfect, I was gobsmacked when that fell out of the envelope.
But I know what those articles about Target books in DWM this time last year did to prices on eBay; they went mental as everyone got the nostalgia bug and bought heavily. I was half way through my renewed attempt to complete the run at that point and watched as the prices shot up. That was when Evil of the Daleks went from £30 to over £60 in some cases. This time round I've just got a lovely copy of the dinosaur book, which is a prototype for the Discovers series, and was about to launch into getting those because they were really cheap on eBay. They won't be now!
