I keep thinking Dave Gorman is making stuff up only to find it true. E.g. virtually every picture of an HTC mobile phone on the Internet has the digital time display set to 10:08, the time that clock sellers set analogue clocks to in order to make them look like they're smiling/happy, and therefore make people more likely to buy them.
And the only way to buy a pocket comb in my big local Sainsbury's is as part of a multi-pack of several different shaped and sized men's combs. What man wants to buy six or seven combs? At least I have DG's assurance that we can sell the unwanted combs on eBay for more than the cost of the complete pack...

Watched 'Rush' last night. About the Formula 1 rivalry between James Hunt and Nikki Lauda in the 70s. Really good film. Compelling. What Lauda went through, such courage.

Did you know it's literally impossible to find Gobots: Battle of the Rock Lords to view either on dvd or online. In the space year 2015 this is crazy!
Who do I need to petition? Who handles Hannah Barbara releases?

Not *impossible*, so to speak. PM me if you're out of options.
It may be on the cards for the Warner Archive Collection to release because they've done two volumes of the main Gobots series.

Indeed. While an official release in the digital era does not exist it is not hard to find rips of the VHS online. Should ever an official release happen I would happily plonk down pennies for it.

Torrents are not required...
Generally if something is not commercially available and is unlikely to be I will get it via Other Means though I put my money where my mouth is if put up properly up for sale.

If I can buy it, it's only fair to, but if I can't and it's available elsewhere then I'll use that as a placeholder. I've got this as a file recorded from a cable film channel broadcast, pending viewing after the Warner DVDs of the Gobots series.

I enjoy that the plot centres around Magmar collecting Rock Lord weapons, which as we know are really rare! Here are some Rock Lord facts that you may not have known: - Rock Lords was the brainchild of actor and Rock Lords star Roddy McDowell, who claims that the idea came to him as a result of a message from Jesus, who explained to him what he needed to do to bring about utopia on Earth. Later, McDowell admitted that creating a children's toyline based on transforming rocks probably wasn't what Jesus meant.
- The original plan for Rock Lords was that they would be non-transforming actual rocks. This was vetoed early on, but later found success as 'Pet Rocks'
- Had Rock Lords been a bigger success, the proposed wave 4 of toys would have included 'Meat Lords' which were designed as cuts of meat that turned into robots. Known prototypes include a turkey, a steak and (controversially) a nut roast.
- Actor Telly Savalas loved the role of Magmar so much that he spent the final years of his life dressed in a suit made from hardened magma and collecting Rock Lord weapons. This is why there are so few weapons on the market today.
- Mattel were so concerned about Rock Lords being the next big thing that they introduced Rokkon and Stonedar to their He-Man line. Plans were in place to add ten more comet people, including turning He-Man into a rock. The tagline "He-Man is now the hardest man in the universe" was rejected.
- The original ending of the Rock Lords movie was deliberately anti-climatic. Just before the final battle, Magmar is knocked down and killed crossing the road because he wasn't looking where he was going. The film then turned into a safety video where Leader-One explained basic road safety to the Rock Lords. At a late stage it was decided to go for a more standard fight scene, but this resulted in the loss of funding from the US Road Safety Association.
Does anyone know any more Rock Lords facts?

A Rock Lords promotional tie-in with Good Housekeeping magazine fell through at the eleventh hour when culinary expert Delia Smith was unable to concoct a mixture pliable enough to facilitate a transformation mechanism. The idea was going to go ahead anyway until it was pointed out that a non-transforming rock cake wasn't much of a gimmick.
Legendary hair metallers Kiss were originally contracted to provide voice talent for the movie until they discovered they were not the Rock Lords of the film's title. A lengthy legal battle ensued as they tried to assert creative control of the project, which eventually led to them releasing their own range of Kiss action figures. Plans for a Rock Lords versus the Rock Lords movie eventually came to nothing.

- 'Battle of the Rock Lords' was mentioned by a speech by George W Bush in 2003, citing the success of Leader-One's invasion of Quartex and regime-changing actions as a reason to proceed with the war in Iraq.
- The movie is very short, at only 73 minutes long. Five hours of footage ended up on the cutting room floor, mostly concerning the socio-economic impact of a planet of living rock people who make their buildings from rocks and eat rocks. "It got pretty dark", executive producer Roddy McDowell said. A sub-plot that developed Scooter's relationship with the Rock Narlie was also cut to ensure the film could be released.
- In the original draft of the film, Solitare believes she has arrived on Cybertron and mistakes Leader-One for Optimus Prime when she petitions for help. Leader-One decides to go along with the ruse; this is why in the finished film, when he transforms he just drives his jet mode along the ground shouting "BRMMM BRMMM BRMMMM"
- It is said that casting a copy of the VHS release of 'Battle of the Rock Lords' into an active volcano on the night of a full moon will grant good luck for the coming month (unless you fall in)

I've a friend who was in a roller derby team until her two kids came along. We both saw the funny side when I observed that hers was the only living room I could think of where I could count on seeing pieces of body armour lying in the corner of the room... : - )
