This Thursday, for one night only, the channel called 'Dave' will apparently be called 'David' in honour of its new spoof documentary 'Hoff the Record'.

Well, it's a pleasant enough hour's viewing, and they get points for dwelling on perhaps my favourite Sean Connery scene, the one in From Russia With Love where he checks his hotel room for bugs. On the other hand, you could dress any two Bond enthusiasts in tuxedos and have them sit at a bar talking through the merits of the films for an hour, and with good editing of top scenes from the series it would be just as watchable. Easy television, and if they got paid for their time doing it, well it's nice work if you can get it. I'm right and the rest of the world wrong in their opinion of Die Another Day... Martin

That has one of my favourite guest characters in all three years of Star Trek - Harcourt Fenton Mudd....

Mudd is not in 'The Trouble with Tribbles'. He features in 'Mudd's Women', 'I, Mudd' and the animated series episode 'Mudd's Passion'.

Karl must have been thinking of this chap having a drink during a bar fight, which I feel is sorely lacking in Adam West Batman type cartoon sound effects.

Martin *slaps back of own head* You are both quite right, I am having a bad brain week here. I don't know why I keep conflating Cyrano Jones with Harry Mudd. Some sort of blindspot in my brain. Good as the barbrawl is though, I think that the grilling of the Enterprise crew after the MPs have arrested them all is a far better moment of comedy. The "I wish I hadn't asked" look on Kirk's face as he finds out how it all started is glorious. Karl

By accident I caught the start of 'Fantastic Mr Fox' on Sunday. I thought it was going to be a CG film and that I would switch off after a minute, but it was stop-motion and absolutely brilliant, and I watched it straight through, chuckling all the way. Wonderful. Especially the dancing.

"The Wire" is fantastic television. It is both gripping drama and a clear-eyed love letter to a city it's creators both love and despair of in equal measure. I think it is superb stuff.

Plus we get to see fools who wear trousers with the crotch at knee-height for apparent fashion reasons trying to run and retain their dignity and failing to do either. Martin

We also had similar verdicts on 'Hitman: Agent 47' and 'The Transporter Refueled'. I fear something is terribly wrong with the universe.
