That's my 2015 meal out duck broken. Pizza at the usual establishment. Most fine.
And the orange waitress looked a much more healthy colour than normal!

We now have a mighty world buffet place 5 mins walk away beside the local cinema. I can see it being a Friday evening treat from time to time when catching a double bill of films. The food is nice, decent variety, great dessert section and the staff leave you alone and don't rush you. Hooray. The butter chicken curry is amazing.

Point of order, which I expect the forum to back me up on:
The rice goes under the curry.
The rice does not go on top of the curry and is definitely not mixed into the curry.
Right?
And thus any forum member found attempting such a maneuver in a competitive eating situation should be disqualified?

My phone (and thus my supervisor and the nice man at Diamond who is handling our beamline) got 18 text updates about said competitive eating situation while I was in the lab preparing samples. My phone is now turned off. I await the avalanche once I return to the site hotel.

Rice DEFFINATELY under curry when served. Buuuuut.... as one eats, mixing inevitably occurs and indeed is welcomed.

I mix rice with curry. Curry goes on plate, rice is tipped over then mixed. Yummy.

So... what are you saying, heir Doctor... that if the rice and curry are to be mixed eventually anyway during the process on consumption, why not, therefore, mix them at the beginning of the meal?

I have never until today in my entire life heard of the concept of having the curry and rice seperate. I thought they were supposed to be mixed!!!!

Well they are, eventually! But not at first. You know, presentation being half the meal n'all that. (Or have I just made that up...?)
Anyway! You go for it, Pal! You eat your curry however you want and be FREE! FREE!!! FRRREEEEE!!!!!!!!
Who knows, maybe others will learn from your wild, rampant curry presentationary ways.

I am honestly completely befuddled. I thought the point of a curry was that sauce, meat and rice were all part of ,er, the same thing.

By having a seperation of the elements at the start of he meal it ensures the ability to vary the ratios of them throughout as an individual's momentary tastes and desires change in a non-predictable manner due to the feeding process. By mixing them from the start, choice and a varied culinary experience are no longer possible. Simple logic.
Plus unmixed curry and rice is more classy.

I agree wholeheartedly. Bed of rice. Meat/veg/sauce on top. Consume meat/veg with sauce quantity varying on a per-forkful basis, occasionally collecting rice from the side as desired with as much or as little sauce as the diner desires.

I am honestly completely befuddled. I thought the point of a curry was that sauce, meat and rice were all part of ,er, the same thing. No, it's about contrasts - the spicy and the bland, the moist and the dry. And the crisp poppadum and mango chutney. And the cool relief of the side salad, if they bother with that in Scotland. And the beer/wine. Contrasts. If they were supposed to be mixed prior to going inside you, they wouldn't be served separately - curry/rice/poppadum/chutney/beer/salad mush. Have you ever had a Greggs Christmas pasty? All the elements of a Christmas dinner mixed in a pasty, allegedly. Absolutely terrible. Two scientists can't be wrong. Any number of scientists can be wrong, but it's only for an even greater number of scientists to rule it so. Martin

Three scientists! The probabilities are tightening...
Occasionally you get served a small pot of mixed vegatable matter that you really don't want to take the lid off that is often claimed to be 'salad' but is more like a wonky special effect.
At buffet bars I often take some fresh salad with curry. Partly for the reasons you state, but also because you can see Ralph's brain exploding with confusion/scorn/envy when you do.

You are all mad. From an early age Ralph was shown that you chuck all the stuff on a plate, mix then eat. I have never heard of this nonsense until now.
What next? Have the dough for a pizza on one side of the plate and the topping on the other but never have them combine???

He ate the Burger.
