The man is such a swine.
Back to a diet of calorie counting and salads for me now. It helped me shed a few kilos in the months before Christmas but I have been terrible at sticking to it since. Losing a few kilos again will do wonders for my self confidence as I consider using dating websites etc.

Don't just diet, do exercise too. I recommend Insanity!
Dating websites - 6 years ago, generally negative experience with them, but I did end up meeting my wife, so I guess they're not so bad.

Intermittent fasting (abstaining from food for a whole day or two or three in a week). Quick, sustainable results. Doesn't require prolonged tests of willpower but instead allows you to focus your efforts into two days (or three) in a week. You will still gain a great deal of benefit if you keep your intake to under 400 calories on a no-eat day, so it's even fogiving. I've used it for about five years, long before it became pop and can honestly say it's easier than it sounds. It's often viewed as 'hardcore' but I've found it so much easier than other diets.
The peripheral benefits are great also: The day following your no-eat day you will have a lower appetite and eat less than you usually do. It can be combined with any other colorie-based diet for added benefits and the coping mechanisms you develop will even assist you in quitting smoking (if you need/want to). You see the results almost immediately and this will give you that all-important encouragement to maintain healthy eating. Recent studies have even suggested it may reduce your susceptibiity to cancer by reducing the production of a hormone thought to be responsible for it...
Both my wife and myself have no-eat days on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the moment. Once we've reached our target shape (wieght-aiming is a waste of time) we'll just continue with a good regular diet. If we start to slip again, we'll do it again for a month or two.
Previous results: I lost two stone in three months leading up to Christmas and felt healthy doing it. I put a stone back on up to January and then started the regime again. That stone has gone now and I'll be going down to one no-eat day as of next week.
Obviously, exercise will always be the best way to lose weight. Add that to this 'diet' and the results are exponential (there's that word again).

I've heard fasting is a good way to do it, actually. Worth investigating the various health implications, and maybe giving it a shot me thinks! My chumb at work swears by it.

We've never, to my recollection, discussed PIZZA at length here on The TMUK Hub.

It is, BUT I have been trying to lose weight, and so pizza is banned now apart from special occasions.
I have also discovered I seem to be allergic to whatever Pizza Express puts on their pizzas. Both times I have recently been there, my tongue swelled up!
Finally, the best pizzas are take away pizzas for breakfast the next morning.

What on earth could it be that makes your tongue swell?! Swollen tongues tend to get us paramedic types very excited.

Er, freakin' emergency much?! Yikes! What on earth could it be that makes your tongue swell?! Swollen tongues tend to get us paramedic types very excited. Not the whole tongue mind, just some of the taste buds on the end. And it was always after having the same foods so must have been some sort of reaction. Never happened since at any time. Only pizza-related.

There is only one True Pizza. The Glasgow Takeaway Special.
THE PIZZA CRUNCH.
A pizza which is not just deep fried...but deep fried in batter!
Sadly, I have never found a place in Edinburger which does it.

Only pizza-related. Well, reactions build up over exposures. You're stung once by a bee, and it bloody hurts. The second time you're stung, it swells like a bastard and you're really poorly. The third time and you're having a full blown allergic reaction and need handsome folks in green. And the fourth time you're DEAD!.... or very nearly dead God forbid. I wonder what on earth it could be that doesn't agree with you, Blue'? Pizza- how ironic... the bringer of joy, and the bringer of death!

Domino's Meateor with pineapple. All other pizzas are just food. You could deep fry that bad boy in batter and it would juimp out of the vat through the power of sheer awesomeness and explode out from it's greasy, crispy prison.
Regarding your reaction to Pizzaland pizza, I know they use a lot more herbs and the sort on their pizza. I can confirm, it's not likely to be a nut allergy. My wife has a severe one and she's never had any dramas at Pizzaland.

Express Not Land! I remember Pizzaland. Man that was a long time ago. Sifu you need to make a trip to Pig Hill to try Bottelinos. Fab Pizza: cheap and lots for the money.

Ha! That Pizza Land/Express thing is some sort mental loop I can't get out of. I'll call it Pizzaland even when I'm sat in the place.

Tiramisu from local Italian in Kingswood following a gert big pizza on Sunday night. It was light! Alas, they decided to serve with extra whipped cream and cheap chocolate sauce drizzled over the top. Was nice but could have been better without the extras.
ps The cream/chocolate sauce was on the dessert, not the pizza.

Scones, and Bread Pudding. I have acquired the recipes from my mother - the Bread Pudding recipe was the very first thing that went into her "eggless" recipe book over thirty years ago when we first started really learning about the families allergies. I have had a first attempt at both, and the bread pudding has come out fairly well - not as good as my mother makes, but whereas she has high levels in all the "kitchen" skills mine are only at "getting by" levels (I needed those skill-points for "Trivia:Giant Robots"). I think another couple of attempts should get the bread-pudding spot on.
The first batch of Scones were a little more mixed in terms of success. I got everything right except that they were cut a little too thin before they went into the oven, and as a result some of them didn't rise quite like they should have done. They are still very palatable, just slightly denser than desire. But again, that is something I can correct in future batches.
Between this and the fact that I am getting the hang of making my own Rice Pudding in the Slow Cooker I think I should be in a position to save a fair amount of money on puddings in the future - something which may come in handy in due course.

I got a bottle of Heinz Jerk BBQ sauce the other day, mainly cos it was cheap.
Man that's good squishy, especially if you don't need your tastebuds afterwards.
