I thought I had had to skip Christmas dinner yesterday but today I woke up to read on twitter that Jewish Americans traditionally eat chinese on Christmas day. I managed a tiny amount of Sweet and Sour Chicken last night. Im not Jewish or American but Im saying thats good enough.
A scaled back Christmas dinner was enjoyed by me a lot and to varying lesser degrees by parents and brother.

Nah. I think for the most part the appeal of a roast dinner is in the meat. You wouldn't eat all those vegetables without that, and without it, you've just got a plate of vegetables.

No roast potatoes?? Thank goodness you mistyped. I was giving serious consideration to retracting a supportive comment I recently made to you. Phew.
I have come across some people who believe Yorkshires should only be served with chicken or beef roasts or not at Christmas. Like Pinwig though they are all wrong. They accompany any good roast.
Besides if we limited them to only beef or chicken roasts veggies would never have them which would be discrimination. I don't think the Hub has ever stopped that low.

A roast dinner in its purest form (and the best kind of Christmas dinner) consists only of food cooked in the oven. Roast meat including pigs in blankets for non-vegetarians, some form of pie or quiche for veggies. Then roast potatoes, Yorkshires, stuffing and roast vegetables. Meat juices go in the gravy.
Don’t boil any of the food.
