You would roast peas? Are you mad?? Roast peas? It’s the product of M’s twisted imagination, and should have remained there rather than have him inflict it on an unsuspecting world. Martin

A roast without peas??
Martin has inflicted this on us.
And quiche with gravy!
Ultimately I suspect Phil's Mad Theory ideas have corrupted our good and stable friend beyond mere toy madness.

As I have said many times, I will not actively seek out peas but if a meal arrives with them on the plate I will eat them after they are salted.

I would never roast a pea but serve them often with roast. Aha! _With_ a roast, not as _part_ of a roast. You admit something boiled is not part of a roast. If anything, it's part of a boil! Not a festering boil, for boiled peas are tasty... but they are not an ingredient of a roast! An accompaniment at best. Martin

Unbelievable but Ralph... is right! Unbelievable indeed, because he isn't. I shall explain. My father has been a vegetarian since childhood, and my grandmother invented a number of tasty vegetarian recipes to make sure he got his protein while others were eating meat. One of them was thick savoury pancakes made of cheese, eggs and plain flour - sort of a cross between a pancake and a cheese omelette. They are delicious with mint sauce, gravy, spuds and veg. Another invention was... THE CHEESE PIE. Shortcrust pastry, six eggs, 400g grated cheese, one chopped onion, herbs and seasoning, cook in oven for best part of an hour - done. My grandmother made it, my mum made it, and I occasionally make it. Again, delicious with gravy, spuds, veg, etc. then delicious cold or reheated with baked beans. I shall be making one for my dad on New Year's Day. Do not mock it, or you are mocking three generations of my family!!! But when I'm feeling lazy, I sometimes buy a cheese and onion quiche, whose ingredients are not unlike those of The Cheese Pie (though its dimensions, particularly height, are puny by comparison). Except it has no pastry lid. But it also works with gravy, spuds, etc. As does a Quiche Lorraine. So there. I never said any pie minus its lid is a quiche, but any quiche with a pastry lid is a pie. If not a pie, what would you call it? Martin

Yes, but THE CHEESE PIE is not a quiche. That is like saying baked potatoes are chips!
