Yes, but THE CHEESE PIE is not a quiche. That is like saying baked potatoes are chips! Correct. But if you put a pastry lid on a quiche it would be a pie, albeit an inferior one. Apple pie, mince pie, steak and kidney pie - any food encased in a pie crust is a pie! Unlike shepherd's pie / cottage pie, which is clearly not a pie. Martin

I fear Martin is gasping, splitting hairs and grasping at straws. You don't drink gravy through straws, you pea-roasting crazy man! And hair in a roast? No thank you! Martin

I know I'm in a minority country-wide with this, but chips and gravy is abhorrent. Evil, evil thing to do to fine, upstanding chips. I am completely Belgian when it comes to chips: Mayo only.
Simple salt & vinegar on special occasions.
Put gravy on chips and I will be sick on your shoes.

I don't indulge chips and gravy but I understand it.
Salt and vinegar if from the chip shop.
Any, back on topic - yay, Christmas!

Mrs M observes that in the north there is a genuine cheese and onion pie commonly available in chippies etc. And it is definitely not quiche. But often eaten with gravy.

Next Saturday is my reserve day to travel back from London. I'm also meant to be doing something next Saturday night. I don't think there's a huge chance of me being match fit for it but want to try.
