Ralph was briefly in a cafe for the first time since early March.
Never would have chanced it in my previous locale but now in a small town where there is a cafe my partner and her mother know very well over many years (and my partner knows some of the staff). Very spaced out. Staff wearing masks and serving at arms length. Had a hot chocolate and brownie.
It was very quiet.
That's as far as I'll go for now. Not making it a regular thing or going anywhere else indoors.
It was lovely being out.

Well anyway, I'm relieved they've eventually clarified that the new 'table service only' rule only applies to venues licensed to serve alcohol. It would have been completely nonsensical to apply it to coffee shops and fast food places that do half their business for eat-in and half for take-away, and that have spent so much effort installing screens at the counter and socially-distanced queuing systems. Much safer than staff having to visit tables with customers present. Table service at McDonald's??
