I think they're just an animal product. Like cheese. Or cream. Or milk.

I've always thought of eggs as veg. You find them in salad areas.

I think to be classed as vegetable it has to come from a plant.

Proto-meat. 'Cos if they were fertilised they would turn into chickens.

But what are eggs classified as??!!! WHAT ARE EGGS??!! -Ralph Depends on whom you ask. I think most of us here would describe them as "Animal Produce" (the broader classification that "Dairy Produce" - Milk, Cream etc - also belongs to). They aren't meat, which refers the flesh of a (once) living animal, they aren't vegetables - the tissue material of various plant species - fruit or nuts - the seed delivery method of various plant species. So I'd agree they fall into the category of Animal Produce. Karl

I loathe roast dinners. They are pretty close to the bottom of my dinner preference list. Mostly because nut roasts are always bloody awful.

It is remarkable that we are even discussing whether or not chickens lay vegetables, and those vegetables hatch into chickens. Fish, of course, is meat in every biological sense, it's just the meat of an animal that can breathe underwater. Martin

I loathe roast dinners. They are pretty close to the bottom of my dinner preference list. Mostly because nut roasts are always bloody awful. Have you considered not eating the nut roast? I presume you are vegetarian if that is what you are going for? A very fine roast can still be had with just veg, potatoes, gravy, Yorkshires, etc. I had some very fine roast root veg and sprouts in one the other day.

Oh yes, I'm just not a fan of that kind of meal in general. I hate gravy too. There are more fun things to do with vegetables that don't need the normal roast dinner format.
That said, I'm off for one now at my parents'. Hey ho.
